The Hornets have given Hilton a guaranteed 4th year (2009-2010) and Julian Wright a 3rd year (2009-2010).

In case you were wondering why New Orleans didn't make Hilton sweat a little and earn his paycheck, the Collective Bargaining Agreement really doesn't allow for that. According to the CBA, "The Option for [a] player’s fourth Season shall be exercisable during the period from the day following the last day of the second Season through the immediately following October 31."

It's definitely time for Hilton to prove himself.

Dave Berri proved how bad he was last year with the wages of wins analysis… he really needs to step up his game and prove he has a place in this league.

No brainer on Julian… he will be a good SF in this league for many years to come. Solid pick by the Hornets.

Hmm yeah

forgot to mention that the JuJu was a no-brainer. If he has a great couple years I wonder how expensive he’d be when he first hits free agency in 2011.

You could be looking at 8 or 9 million.

It’s all speculation at this point, of course, as no one really knows what he will do in the next three seasons. He won’t be the best player on the team, obviously, so I’d see him getting 5 years/40-45 million, or something in that range. It could be higher, but restricted free agency will hurt him a bit. It’s always easier to get a bigger offer being an unrestricted free agent.

Hoopshype has Hilton Armstrong down for $2.8mil for his fourth season. Couldn’t get someone more dependable for that type of money?

Feels risky … Hilton really has to work out now.
