Lol

Vujacic’s ESPN picture is hilarious.

Yes!

The bench takes the lead for once!

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 7:45 PM CST reply actions

Does Andrew Bynum bug anyone else like he bugs me?

I think he is one of my most hated players in the NBA.

Of course, I can’t stand anyone on that team not named Derek Fisher.

Eh

He annoyed me a little bit when he came in the league and made all those comments about how he was the youngest player ever and all that. But pretty much indifferent to him now

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 7:53 PM CST up reply actions

Ugh

Stop yelling and go up strong guys.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 7:53 PM CST reply actions

Way too many threes

Chris Paul needs to drive the ball. New Orleans looks really, really lazy out there the last two plays.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 7:55 PM CST reply actions

Geez

Bench Devin Brown. What the hell is he doing out there???

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 7:58 PM CST reply actions

Total bogus call

Total bogus. Good job Kobe.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:03 PM CST reply actions

Ugh.

I go to grab a bite to eat and we’re down 12. Not cool.

Ugh.

Hornet loss and Laker win. Not a fun night.

Game over

I’m considering turning this off right now. Lakers are in another league.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:15 PM CST reply actions

Cleveland-LA-Boston

are unreal.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 23, 2008 8:17 PM CST up reply actions

I dunno

I think we can beat Boston (probably not in a 7 game series) and we already did beat Cleveland. L.A.‘s length is our biggest issue. West simply cannot guard Bynum/Gasol, and Ariza and Odom can’t be covered by any of the backups. Kobe isn’t the problem, those 4 guys are. They’re simply too big for us.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:19 PM CST up reply actions

My pick to win it all is Boston.

Because it’s a seven game series. They are on a mission. You can beat them a few times, but four out of seven would be a tall order.

The Lakers are a hard matchup… You have to hope the Spurs or someone knocks them out in the second round.

by Cablinasian on Dec 23, 2008 8:23 PM CST up reply actions

Mine too

Though I wouldn’t put money on a BOS vs. CLE series. LeBron nearly knocked ’em off last year despite playing “bad.” But I think Boston will probably win it again.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:25 PM CST up reply actions

It'll come down to LeBron vs. Pierce

and while I think Pierce is declining, I think he’ll do enough to hold LeBron off for one more year. I don’t think the Celtics will keep this up next year.

by Cablinasian on Dec 23, 2008 8:28 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

I wonder where Boston goes from here (here meaning next offseason). They might have enough for ‘10 but they certainly wouldn’t be odds-on favorites. I’d say it’s probably worth throwing that team out one more year to see if they can win again. You’re right, Pierce’s decline will be the underlying problem ahead of KG’s decline (he can still stay active by contributing on the boards) and Ray’s (I doubt his 3 shooting suffers too much as he ages).

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:31 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah I don't want to watch this anymore...

It’s just… blah. We came out with intensity and the first quarter looked good, but the Lakers just seem to be on higher level than us. I hate to say it… but that’s what it looks like. I wish we saw that kind of ball movement…. and their D is suffocating right now.

Ain’t over yet… but it probably is. Dominating us twice on our home court? Damn. Unless we figure them out somehow, they would kill us in a playoff series.

by Caleb462 on Dec 23, 2008 8:22 PM CST reply actions

Good point

Two home court dominations. We probably stand no chance in a series. But hey, 5 more months till the playoffs… I guess something could change.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:26 PM CST up reply actions

Devin Brown is a 2nd string guard at *best*...

Why is Scott giving him so many minutes over a proven player like Mo Pete? A guy who has a consistent jumpshot among other advantages…

I like Brown and he makes a few good plays here and there, but c’mon.

by Caleb462 on Dec 23, 2008 8:49 PM CST reply actions

Yup

He’s been garbage tonight. The camera’s even caught Byron rolling his eyes at Devin Brown’s plays two or three times tonight… and he STILL plays him. What is up??

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 8:54 PM CST up reply actions

According to the box score, Julian Wright didn't even play a full minute

Why did Byron put him in?

Its like the only time he plays JuJu is when we are down big against a tough opponent… and then barely plays him at all, strange stuff.

by Caleb462 on Dec 23, 2008 9:03 PM CST reply actions

Kobe loves draining shots in Posey's face

Probably has something to do with that whole “Kobe stopper” talk…

Well, this one is definitely done.We were just outclassed tonight… the rebounding, in particular, was dreadful. Let’s hope the team and the coaching staff figures out how to compete with this team by the next meeting, or atleast by the playoffs.

Tough stretch of games started tonight, I hope we look better against Orlando, Houston and Portland. I think we will.

by Caleb462 on Dec 23, 2008 9:12 PM CST reply actions

Wait

Posey called himself a Kobe stopper?

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 9:22 PM CST up reply actions

No he himself never did

But last year after the Finals some segments of the media did.

by Caleb462 on Dec 23, 2008 9:29 PM CST up reply actions

Typical Lakers game

We get down by 20, then make a pointless attempt at a comeback in the final minutes.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 9:27 PM CST reply actions

Whatever

We’re still going to see all the “Hornets proved they’re not in the Lakers class” articles.

And all of them will be true.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 9:30 PM CST up reply actions

Boohoo

At least The Glove still likes us.

by Junsier on Dec 23, 2008 9:34 PM CST reply actions

The Glove is an idiot

I don’t like us after this game.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 9:36 PM CST up reply actions

The only way we get to the Finals this year

is a genius coaching job. One that can exploit L.A.‘s weaknesses and magnify our strengths. I’ll do an extended post on this soon, but the summary is this: Byron Scott doesn’t change his game plan from game to game. He played the exact same offense against LA that we did last time- and last time they destroyed us. He stubbornly tries to play the same way every game, regardless of opponent. That works when you have the talent and depth of the Celtics or Lakers. That doesn’t work when you’re the inferior team. Until Byron learns that, this team can’t be mentioned in the same sentence as the Lakers or Celtics.

by Rohan on Dec 23, 2008 9:36 PM CST reply actions

It'd be fine . . .

. . . if you line-up did not include Devin Brown, and included Peja.

by m-W on Dec 23, 2008 10:14 PM CST up reply actions

What I've said for the last two weeks

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

WHAT DOES MO PETE HAVE TO DO TO GET HIS MINUTES BACK FROM THE BLACK HOLE THAT IS DEVIN BROWN?

Ok, I went and said it again anyway just for good measure. Gee, it would have been nice to have SIXTEEN POINTS SCORED when the game was close! Gee, it would have been great to have someone hit those threes when the game was close!

by ticktock6 on Dec 23, 2008 9:44 PM CST reply actions

Imagine the two wide threes Devin missed in the first

taken by Peja or Mo. Might have been able to jump out to a lead.

by m-W on Dec 23, 2008 10:14 PM CST up reply actions

I've been saying this the last 30 minutes

Oh, wait. That’s you, sweets.

Even though you are not here, we think the same!!!

No Hornet played well, and most sucked

Mo Pete came the closest to playing well.
Butler and Paul did not embarass themselves. Paul had a great first 8 minutes, but was average the rest of the way. Butler made a couple of nice shots but clanked a lot too.
Everyone other Hornet failed to shoot, failed to rebound, failed to defend, and failed make free throws. Other than that….
The refs were determined to prevent any comeback by the Hornets. From midway through the 2nd quarter I estimate 10 phantom fouls and 2 questionable traveling calls on the Hornets and many grabs and bumps by Fisher and Arriza and lots of contact in the paint by Gasol and Bynum that would normally be called.
