Should be a real tough game tonight

If Peja’s not back, I expect Devin Brown to get the starting nod. Again.

In other news

Tracy McGrady has passed Chris Paul to be a starting guard for the Western Conference. Current starting roster: Kobe, T-Mac, Amare, Duncan, Yao.

I just want to see a Roy-Paul backcourt

the way they played basketball together in last year’s ASG was beautiful.

Roy will never be voted into the starting lineup...

Portland’s just too small of a city… I wonder how long it will take for Chris to get the starting honors.

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 5:15 PM CST up reply actions

I THOUGHT

He was going to get in this year. He was #2 in the last voting results. Give me a break. This is why they should divide it up by real position.

I dream about Roy/Paul. I love Roy/Paul. My all star voting, even though it’s not going to ever work until Kobe retires, reflects this.

It sux that

CP probably won’t get voted to start because people vote for Tracy due to previous season and don’t realize Tracy hasn’t even played that well to be in the all-star game this year.
Chris will be voted in for future games though.

Peja won’t play tonight according to Scott before the Magic game. He said he’d look to him for Sunday’s game. But then again they thought he’d be ready for the Lakers.

I just hope the guys play with some pride and heart. They can easily get another beat down if they don’t believe in themselves.

by RonD on Dec 26, 2008 4:29 PM CST reply actions

Thanks for the Peja note

You’re right about tracy. Now that I think about it, we’re actually super lucky that Iverson got traded to the East. Otherwise, he would get it for sure.

Yeah

I dunno if there’s anyone elsein the league that can go that fast across the court.

Maybe Aaron Brooks

I'm moving to Seattle next year

which I just found it blacks out Blazer games on LP. I mean, go to Seattle and they will tell you they are not a Blazer market. At all.

The NBA blackout zones make so little sense.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 7:49 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, they make no sense

The zones are totally illogical

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 7:51 PM CST up reply actions

the entire state of Oregon is in blackout

and barely anyone outside of Portland can get the Blazer games. So… there are a lot of angry people. It’s a messy situation.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

It's been in effect since the start of last year

FSN had the Blazer rights for 4 million per year. Comcast Sports Net comes in, offers ten million. They then don’t work a deal out with any dish companies, and request that the league broaden the blackout area to the whole state of Oregon and parts of Washington.

It’s the ultimate move of greed by Comcast. They want Dish to get an extra few dollars a month from every customer… and obviously Dish doesn’t want to do that.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:02 PM CST up reply actions

The Seattle blackout was caused by the move

The whole ordeal makes me so angry…. the Thunder moved into my “most hated” list this year.

Lakers, Celts, Robber Barons, Jazz, and Nuggets.

I know a lot of Seattle fans that are angry at David Stern. I am not a huge Bill Simmons fan, but he’s done a great job giving the fans a voice to complain about Stern.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:05 PM CST reply actions

Good half by the Hornets

Houston has a top 5 defense, and we’ve done a really respectable job

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:09 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, I'm not upset with that.

Except losing the lead earlier due to giving up stupid layups and lazy D. And I’m wary of the fouls on the big men. But all we gotta do is hit some threes and keep it going, try to pull away.

http://hornetshype.com

by ticktock6 on Dec 26, 2008 8:11 PM CST up reply actions

Hmm

Did we even hit a 3 in the first half?

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:12 PM CST up reply actions

CP hit one

Mo attempted 1, so did Marks, Brown 0-2

by RonD on Dec 26, 2008 8:19 PM CST up reply actions

Good half

This will be a tight one. Hopefully they get their defense scheme better organized and somebody can hit some 3s because TMac hasnt even got going and he loves to get going at the end of a tight game.

by RonD on Dec 26, 2008 8:10 PM CST reply actions

We're

outshooting (eFG%), outrebounding, out getting to the foul line the Rockets. Only thing is too many turnovers, or this could be a 7-8 pt lead.

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:11 PM CST reply actions

I have a code built in to my firefox

that calculates eFG, turnover rate, pace, offensive rebound rate, offensive efficiency, and FT/FG every time I look at a ESPN box score.

Amazing how those predict success so incredibly well.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

of course

if you’re shooting and rebound well with keeping turnovers down, you’re obviously having a good game.

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:14 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah I love Firefox for that

I’m currently writing one that puts in Gamescore of individual players, hopefully I should get it dunn some time.

Any other good addons you know of?

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

Add ons or scripts?

I don’t really use that many other scripts. The only other one I really use is a dual G-Mail thing where you can be logged into 2 accounts at once. That’s pretty useful.

As far as add-ons, I use way, way too many. The best one is definitely Mouse Gestures (and Speed Dial). I can’t imagine browsing wihtout those.

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:20 PM CST up reply actions

my favorite is probably

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:22 PM CST up reply actions

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:31 PM CST up reply actions

So my interest was piqued and I looked at the Orlando measurements.

Two things jumped out at me.

1. Wasn’t OJ Mayo’s knock that he wasn’t athletic enough? He’s close to the record vertical leap and court sprint.

2. Pavel Podkolzine is really, really slow.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:11 PM CST reply actions

OJ Mayo looks much, much better than I thought. I thought he’d end up being around league average around the end of his rookie year. He’s hanging around a 17-18 PER right now, just 30 games in. Looks legit.

And I have no idea who Pavel Podkolzine even is.

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

Pavel was heralded as the next great foreign center

in the LeBron draft.

I heard someone joke at the time:
Strengths: size
Weaknesses: genetic defect

Apparenty Pavel suffered from Andre-the-Giant-itis

Lol

“Next great foreign center.” Hasn’t there only been one?

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:21 PM CST up reply actions

Draft measurements are so much fun to look up

I like how Chris Paul can outjump Deron Williams. Score one more for CP in the “debate.”

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

great quote on SLCdunk their recent game thread
stop with the turnovers!

Deron… 7?
No wonder people call Paul better than you… he steals the ball, you let it get stolen.

honor rasheed wallace

by Cablinasian on Dec 26, 2008 8:24 PM CST up reply actions

I remember seeing that the other day

There was another one like “Stop shooting like Paul” when deron missed a three. I was gonna comment on how Paul actually shoots better than Williams this year, but then decided against it.

by Rohan on Dec 26, 2008 8:27 PM CST up reply actions

You know...

A win would feel good… really tough stretch of games they’ve been playing recently.
