We're playing an all rookie front court

Unfortunately, we’re probably still gonna get owned

by Rohan on Jan 21, 2009 11:27 AM CST reply actions

Maybe.

Guess it depends on who plays and how they play. Energy by role players will go a long way if CP, Peja, and Butler are on.

I would not be surprised if we do get beatdown

but I hope somehow they are able to come ouf this injury stretch in good standing. The bad thing about this is that this team only have two main plays, pick n roll and dump to west. With both West and TC out, who does this? Nobody on this team is an offensive threat except for Peja. And with the teams limited playbook, how will they score? They will depend on point guard play even more. I hope he gets his rest off the court because he will be playing heavy minutes while his big men are out.

Wow

This is unbelievably ugly. It’s actually going to be miraculous if we win this game…

by Rohan on Jan 21, 2009 7:20 PM CST reply actions

peja looking good

Our second unit is going to be key if we want to pulll this out.

by m-W on Jan 21, 2009 7:23 PM CST reply actions

MoPete!

and Julian in the game at the same time.

by Cablinasian on Jan 21, 2009 7:35 PM CST reply actions

Yeah

Only way we’re winning is a Chris Paul takeover…

by Rohan on Jan 21, 2009 7:38 PM CST reply actions

Eh...

Not too bad considering the situation… I’m still optimisitic.

by Caleb462 on Jan 21, 2009 7:40 PM CST reply actions

Lol

Last time the Hornets played without Chandler and West was December 14th, 2006

by Rohan on Jan 21, 2009 7:42 PM CST reply actions

You know

this Mopete character is pretty good at basketball, Byron.

by Cablinasian on Jan 21, 2009 7:42 PM CST reply actions

And so is that Julian Wright guy...

I’m shocked.

On a side note… Sean Marks finally hit a jumper despite the stifling defense being played by the air in the arena.

LOL

Devin Brown is a basketball God!

Heh

39% free throw shooter.

OMG MARKS MADE A JUMPSHOT

THE WORLD IS GONNA END

Devin Brown is a basketball God!

No Devin Brown despite being down so many guys?

Maybe this is a sign for things to come when Chandler, Armstrong, and West come back.

LOVING IT

I’ve always had faith in him..and still do. I hope he keeps up the good work. Let’s see if he can break his career high 16 points!
Great stuff from the Hornets in the first half.

by JChangNZ on Jan 21, 2009 8:11 PM CST up reply actions

7 points and 5 boards in 12 minutes for JuJu

And good defense.

Making Byron look foolish… I’m sure Byron doesn’t see it that way but he is keeping Wright on the floor so that’s a good sign.

by Caleb462 on Jan 21, 2009 8:02 PM CST reply actions

Definitely JuJu's playing like a beast

I love how that quarter ended with us having all the momentum. JuJu’s gotta hit his freebees though. Hell, I could care less. JuJu should just do his thing like now and force himself into Byron’s rotation!

Devin Brown is a basketball God!

Yeah, too bad he didn't hit the free throws....

But I don’t really care.

9 point/5 boards/1 steal is a really solid line for one half of basketball.

by Caleb462 on Jan 21, 2009 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

It's so bizarre how much the rotation changes

guys go in and out of Byron’s doghouse. On some NBA teams, the better players on the team play…

by Cablinasian on Jan 21, 2009 8:15 PM CST reply actions

Peja is picking up some of the rebounding load..

That’s nice to see. It gets overlooked but I’ve always thought he was one of the team’s best rebounders.

by Caleb462 on Jan 21, 2009 8:33 PM CST reply actions

Oops

Didn’t mean to do that

Anyway… was going to say, guys knowing they have to step up and doing it – Ely, Marks, Peja, Juju, etc.

by Caleb462 on Jan 21, 2009 9:01 PM CST up reply actions

Ely?

Sorry, can’t watch the games here in New Zealand…did Ely just get blocked?

by JChangNZ on Jan 21, 2009 9:18 PM CST reply actions

Yeah he did

Doing his best Yao Ming impersonation… blocking shots and getting blocked.

Ely helped the team a lot tonight though.

by Caleb462 on Jan 21, 2009 9:29 PM CST up reply actions

CP3 SO CLUTCH!

Melvin Ely not so much

Devin Brown is a basketball God!

Another great effort from a team that was willing to work for the win.

Julian was awesome. Diving on the floor for loose balls, darting at the sideline to try and save balls, and scoring and rebouding. TT6 made a “Free Ju-Ju” sign tonight. And hopefully tonight will, in fact, be the beginning of his freedom.

by m-W on Jan 21, 2009 10:23 PM CST reply actions

Also, I'm 100% behind Marks.

I mean, if we’re healthy, I honestly don’t think he has the talent (on this team) to be on the active roster. That said, we’re not healthy, and he needs to step up, so I hope he does just that. It’s pretty awesome, too, that he’s the first New Zealander to make the League.

by m-W on Jan 21, 2009 10:49 PM CST reply actions

Marks got a loooong hug from Posey

He knows the secrets now. He is wise.

Peja and CP were great tonight! Everyone else got out and hustled and ran. It was like watching a different team, but it was a lot of fun. Go Hornets B Team!
