I agree.

Attacking in the paint paid off nice dividends at the line last night.

Here’s to hoping the boys got some good rest last night. I suppose if there’s one place on an NBA road trip where there aren’t any distractions it’s Salt Lake… and, I guess you could OKC to that list as well.

GEAUX BEES!

It's probably a good thing

that CP has a personal drive to one-up Deron, because that should help keep his energy level high.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 7:53 PM CST up reply actions

He'd better

He’s 2-8 against Deron… obviously a lot of those aren’t his fault, but still.

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:08 PM CST up reply actions

NICE!

Butler’s looking good for the first time in a week.

I like the defensive switch.

Tyson on Millsap and DX on Okur. Millsap looks lost against TC.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 8:20 PM CST reply actions

Just about to say

TC could have a nicen ight if he stays on the floor

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:21 PM CST up reply actions

8/3/1/1

Come on CP, let’s end the “debate” once and for all.

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:22 PM CST reply actions

I don't really care about winning matchup...

as much as winning the game. The stat books will settle this discussion at the end of the day. I don’t cat care what the head-to-heads show.

That last comment shouldn’t say “cat care”… just “care”

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 8:27 PM CST up reply actions

UTA right back in it

We gotta do a better job on Okur, he’s killed us in the past

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:29 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, I thought maybe that's why they switched DX on him.

But then TC took him back. Strange. Especially as Millsap and Okur weren’t doing much until they switched back. Seems almost more dumb than strange.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 8:32 PM CST up reply actions

Well

DX hates stepping out to guard people.. maybe that’s why?

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:33 PM CST up reply actions

Devin Brown

How about some rebounds...

The current count is 17-7 in favor of the Jazz. Oof.

http://www.hometownhornets.blogspot.com/

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 8:45 PM CST reply actions

But their defense is decent.

Lead gone from 4 to 1. At least we’re still winning, despite only scoring 2 points in almost 4 minutes.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 8:47 PM CST up reply actions

Yup

If this can be a repeat of last night’s 2nd quarter, I’m all for it

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:47 PM CST up reply actions

Now they're in the penalty

Time for Paul and West to go to work

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 8:48 PM CST reply actions

Totally.

And Kirelinko and Millsap each have 2. They better be careful.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 8:50 PM CST up reply actions

Back to the atrocious 2nd quarter

Great time for that.

http://hornetshype.com

by ticktock6 on Jan 7, 2009 8:54 PM CST reply actions

6 points this quarter.

That’s rough, with just over 4 minutes left.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 8:55 PM CST reply actions

We're 3-10 from deep.

They’re 7-10 from deep. Historically (if that continues), that has been a mark of defeat. We’re going to have to keep driving, drawing fouls, and making FTs.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 9:02 PM CST reply actions

Ummmm...just kidding.

I was looking at their FTs. Sorry. (They’re 3-9 now, and we’re 3-11.)

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 9:14 PM CST up reply actions

Wow

We have some serious catching up to do. Daniels + Posey = straight up Awful tonight. A 29-13 quarter? Seriously guys?

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 9:06 PM CST reply actions

Looks like the Hornets are tired already.

Paul just got beat by Williams twice and there wasn’t much of a move by Deron.

by Basketball John on Jan 7, 2009 9:08 PM CST reply actions

I don't think so.

They came out with plenty of energy. I think they just got careless, assumed they could keep winning, and were caught off balance when Utah started making shots. Certainly, AD and the backups had no reason to be tired.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 9:11 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah AD played just 4 minutes last night

But he’s a big part of that 2nd quarter let down right now

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 9:11 PM CST up reply actions

It's just looked like

They’re getting beat for boards and not getting back right now.

by Basketball John on Jan 7, 2009 9:13 PM CST up reply actions

At the half the bench has

logged in 22 min… just 2 pts/4 reb to show for it.

Starters are getting tired and need some production from the bench.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:10 PM CST reply actions

Ouch.

http://www.hometownhornets.blogspot.com/

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 9:16 PM CST up reply actions

LOL. That's hilarious.... at halftime.

Rebound rate update: 42% vs. 4%. I don’t know if I’ve seen something like this between comparable teams, if only for a half.

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 9:16 PM CST up reply actions

29-12

That’s just ugly….

Jazz have 8 off reb alone…way too many second-chance attempts.

Jazz offense

has so much better motion and movement.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:27 PM CST reply actions

We can't seem hit anything...

It’s getting ridiculous.

http://www.hometownhornets.blogspot.com/

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 9:27 PM CST reply actions

/Sigh

Another home blowout on Jazz’ floor. Silly us for thinking we could end it…

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 9:29 PM CST reply actions

BEE POSITIVE! BEE POSITIVE!

This wouldn’t be the first time we erased a huge deficit in the second half.

http://www.hometownhornets.blogspot.com/

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 9:31 PM CST up reply actions

Too much penetration in the paint

either by dribble penetration or passing.

We’re just standing still watching them drive right by. Playing that matador defense.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:31 PM CST reply actions

Nice analogy.

Though I would argue that we just plain aren’t playing defense.

http://www.hometownhornets.blogspot.com/

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 9:32 PM CST up reply actions

We're horribly out of position.

They just keep dumping it to bigs down low and they lay it up.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 9:33 PM CST up reply actions

I wish West would play Millsap more

Chandler simply can’t get the leverage to guard him

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 9:33 PM CST up reply actions

Looks like their bodies

have told their mind…..I’m tired and ready to get back home.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:35 PM CST reply actions

This would be a perfect time to leave CP and Peja on the floor

and sub in Mo, Posey, and Armstrong. But he’ll probably go with Devin, Ely, and Hilt.

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 9:37 PM CST up reply actions

Let's see

whats JuJu has been learning on the bench. Put him in.

Might as well put the subs in, nothing else is working.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:38 PM CST reply actions

Ha Ha

Same thinking m-W…

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:38 PM CST reply actions

We can't get in front of anyone.

They just keep driving past us. Where’s the D that stopped the Lakers from doing this last night?

by m-W on Jan 7, 2009 9:42 PM CST reply actions

Think they left it

in LA.

We’re committing fouls by reaching and not moving our feet. That’s lazy, it won’t work, they know it won’t work, but keep doing it.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:47 PM CST up reply actions

All right, just finished my recap

Hopefully I end up writing a new one…

by Rohan on Jan 7, 2009 9:48 PM CST reply actions

Yeah.

After we botched the CCC I decided that we just didn’t have it in us to finish strong.

http://www.hometownhornets.blogspot.com/

by hldomingue on Jan 7, 2009 9:50 PM CST up reply actions

It's time...

to unleash the BEAST and put Marks and his posse in.

by 225Fan on Jan 7, 2009 9:52 PM CST reply actions

this game is not as bad as it looks

they just beat the lakers in a tough battle so obviously they’re gonna be tired so the jazz better not get to exited

Devin Brown is a basketball God!

by chandlerfan6 on Jan 7, 2009 10:08 PM CST reply actions

Just turned the game off...

Somebody call me if we make the biggest comeback in history. Otherwise, I’ll see you guys on Friday. Peace.

Good news is...

We’ll get back in the win column Friday night against the Red Cross Clippers.
