tough game tonight
I think the starters will be competitive witj Boston’s starters, but I’m worried about the bench. Its funny how BS benches the rookies because they don’t execute consistently on both ends of the floor, but the veterans on the bench are allowing easy buckets and not creating any offense as well. I think the rotation Scott needs to go with is this:
C Songalia
PF Peja
SF Posey
SG Thornton
PG Collison
Peja and Posey can spread the floor allowing penetration from Collison and Thornton. Plus it allows Peja and Posey to defend easier. Peja is too slow to guard SFs and ridicoulously embarassing against SGs. He’s better off against PFs. Songalia should be the first big man off the bench, especially over Hilton Armstrong.
HEY, IT's THE BUM FROM THE DARK! GET A JOB YOU BUM!

Agreed, until Diogu gets back, we need to switch things up.
I guess you’d put Songaila on Rasheed in that matchup. Overall, tonight will be a very tough game to pull out.

I agree
Ive been saying the same things on the NOLA dot com forum. Idk bout you guys but I’m sure not sold on Bobby Brown being the backup point guard, Hilton being backup center, and Posey being whatever he is lol.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 3:11 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Same here. I really want Collison to get a shot, and Diogu to eat into Hilton’s minutes big time.
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 3:28 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Honestly
I’ll take anyone to eat into Hilton’s minutes. Even if it’s Marks or Songaila, because time after time Hilton fails to improve and impress. That’s nice that Scott is giving his young guys a chance, but Hilton is a good a bust as any. Time to end that project.

Thornton and Collison both had good preseasons yet haven’t received any love Byron Scott. No way should Bobby Brown be running the offense for this team. I would like to see Thornton get some more playing time, maybe he would be able to usurp the SG throne from Morris Peterson.
Unrelated but can we get an update on the team salary section on the home page? Seeing 6MM+ next to Mike James is making me sick.
by Nnamdi Asomugha on Nov 1, 2009 3:33 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Right on
it seems to be a pretty obvious thing if everyone is noticing it. Odds are Scott won’t make a change until its too late.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 3:43 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Like he always does.
The Hornets are going to need a miracle for this one.
by redzero on Nov 1, 2009 3:46 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It's certainly not impossible to win this game
If Scott would just use his players correctly, then we’d be in for a very good game, but he won’t use em right which will most probably result in a shutout. Also, atthehive you should make a post about possible trades to upgrade our SG position. It certainly looks like Mo Pete has no chance of being anything special for us.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 3:55 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah
Was planning on a Mo-Pete post real soon. I want to see him out there for at least a few more games though… still praying that it’s just rust.
Unfortunately, a lot of players of his skill set decline at exactly this point in their careers…
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 4:03 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I was hoping the same too
he’s not the same in any way. He’s gone as far as changing the way he shoots the ball too. It’s weird he squats way down and body shoots it. I just dont think he’s got anything left in the tank. Lucky for him he plays slightly better defense than any other guys because if he didn’t he be on the bench and gulp Devin Brown would be our starting SG. Yikes.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 4:07 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah… I think I’d rather Sean Marks start at SG before Devin does hahha
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 4:20 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Interesting you would say that
because Sean Marks actually has some range lol. He hit a couple of 3s last year if i recall correctly!
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 4:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Hahaha good call
Should be up now.
At least BB makes 5 million less…
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 4:02 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Emeka will have his work cut out for him
Perkins is a beast, defensively. I’m curious to see how Emeka will fare offensively against Perkins.
It’s gonna be a real tough game all around, and just like the game against the Spurs – I’m not really expecting a win. I just wanna see a competetive game, and if the Hornets can pull it out, well that would just be extra awesome.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 4:10 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Emeka should be fine
He’s a pretty feisty defender himself and he’s only getting better. I’m going to predict he’ll have his biggest game as a Hornet with yet another double double. Now the problem is if it’s going be all for naut.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 4:15 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, his performance against SA
gives me confidence that he’ll do well, even against good defenses.
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 4:19 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
You guys
will never guess who’s inactive for tonight!
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:02 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
.... Bobby Brown... ?
Oh, right. Marcus Thornton.
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 5:09 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Man, it seems deathly quiet in the Garden
Or is it just me?
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:17 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
9-6 at the first stoppage
Offense looked way out of sorts to start, but last couple of possesions have been solid. Loving JuJu hitting the open 3, and liked his aggressive D on Pierce.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:20 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
We're hitting the jumpers for now
Good start
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 5:31 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Bobby Brown is awful
Not a true PG. He doesnt push. Once he gets the ball to the arc he completely stalls and no one moves on offense. He’s also up to his usual tricks of taking jumpshots. I want Collison in.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:36 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Not a PG at all
He’s just the size of one.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:37 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Where is Paul? Only 4 minutes? Is he hurt?
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 5:39 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Nope
We’ll need him down the stretch so we’re keeping him fresh
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Well...
Considering how early CP went out, along with Emeka sitting for a signifigant stretch… I’m pretty happy with a nearly tie game.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:41 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Maybe Scott is sending a message?
I highly doubt CP3 needs a break 5 minutes into the game….if he needs rest the start of the game isnt the time to do it…
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 5:42 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Its the perfect time to do it
It gets the backups going and keeps CP3 fresh at the end.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:43 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I dont know
Im open to it. I kind of like CP to open the 2nd.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:43 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I hate it.
Turned a five pt. lead into a five pt. deficit.
by m-W on Nov 1, 2009 5:58 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I'm surprised
that we’re actually competing. Bobby Brown trying to make up for those turnovers, but he’s gotta do more passing IMO.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:41 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
CP3 is pouting….he started walking back when Brown started dribbling
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 5:44 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Wasn't Collison a lights out 3pt shooter in college?
If Byron wants the backup PG chucking threes maybe, um, DC is a good choice.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:45 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Is it just me
Or is this a bench for the Hornets right now?
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:45 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I'm scared
He’s made a couple of 3s so thats probably the only shot he’s gonna take tonight. Not good news, unless he makes em which is doubtful since the Celtics are great at defending it, they’ll adjust.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 5:48 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
9 FGA
More than double anyone else in the game, either team…
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 5:48 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
ridiculous...
Surely Byron won’t put up with this for many more games, right? right??
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:49 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
If Jeff Bower had to break up him and Pargo...
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 5:51 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
This is true
Though I think he made Paul work hard to guard SG’s, his full court press was always effective.
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 5:53 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Darius!
That guy shooting the ball, his name is Ray Allen. You should put a hand in his face.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:54 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Ugh, come on CST
Don’t play up Bobby’s shot-chucking as if its a good thing.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 5:58 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I'm going to cry
If CST folks laud BBrown any more. He’s been horrible tonight.
by m-W on Nov 1, 2009 6:01 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
i just threw up in my mouth
3:17 NO – Traveling on D. West
3:35 BOS – Bad pass by K. Garnett
3:42 NO – Bad pass by C. Paul
by trottsta on Nov 1, 2009 6:02 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Shooting ourselves in the foot
11 turnovers so far, there’s no feet left to shoot!
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:04 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Why must Hilton pretend
like he can make a jumpshot?
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:06 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Can't blame him for taking that one though...
Wide open at the free throw line… just rattled out.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 6:08 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
The refs are paid off
WAAAAY too many no calls or bad calls. Poor officiating.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:08 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Weird how neither
CP or West has been much of a factor. Emeka is a beast on the boards, but hasn’t found the rim. Peja and Hilton looking good off the bench, but Brown trying to suck all of Boston in through the black hole that is his shot selection.
To think we’re only down 9 is kind of awesome.
by m-W on Nov 1, 2009 6:17 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Yeah perhaps this is just one of those games...
Where CP doesn’t really come alive until the 2nd half. We’ll see. Peja has played well, and Hilton had some really nice moments.
by Caleb462 on Nov 1, 2009 6:18 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
CP3 hasnt looked good…I wonder if he is hurt and not telling anyone (would also explain the quick hook early in the game)
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 6:19 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
just because he's not dominating
doesnt mean he’s hurt. calm down dude, he’s fine.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Should have more pick-and-rolls (or pops) with CP3 and West….
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 6:30 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
i want to punch byron scott in the face
play the damn rookies u asshole, not dinosaurs like mo
by trottsta on Nov 1, 2009 6:33 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
DUDE CALM DOWN!
no one wants to hear that crap, seriously. Go be a pessimist elsewhere.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:35 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Are you saying I’m wrong? Paul is still the best in the league, but he isnt playing well. Is that hard for some people to say?
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 6:37 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It's not wrong
but it’s not necessary to point it out because Rondo isn’t playing that great
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
People said that about Tyreke Evans last game.
We all know how that fourth Q rounded out.
by m-W on Nov 1, 2009 6:38 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Poor CP3
Scott making him be a 2 guard when Bobby Brown comes in, so he’s gotta cover a big Ray Allen? Not fair by any means. We need a 2 guard BAAAAD.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:43 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
We have one
Thorton is already on the team, but Scott doesnt realize it
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 6:46 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
if he keeps it up
he’ll be the first coach fired this season
by trottsta on Nov 1, 2009 6:47 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
i think you're right
Ignorance is what Scott brings to this team. Maybe Thornton will get playing time in his 3rd year.
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 6:47 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I can admit when wrong….CP3 is outplaying Rondo now. We need him to continue to dominate the rest of this game
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 6:56 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
BOBBY BROWN
Bobby Brown should not be getting this many minutes while Collison has yet to play. He’s shooting 25%, can’t even cover Eddie House, and has no idea how to run the offense. I can’t really be mad at him because he is being placed in a bad situation. I guess I’ll just have to be mad at Byron Scott ; ).
by Nnamdi Asomugha on Nov 1, 2009 7:03 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Does Scott draw up these plays himself? Post up Peja 17ft from the basket and have Paul take a deep 3….
by Bellringer21 on Nov 1, 2009 7:03 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
good to see him earning that paycheck
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 7:07 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Random thought
If Peja plays this well for a string of games… I wonder if Byron considers using JuJu at the 2 over Mo, and putting Peja back as a starter
by atthehive on Nov 1, 2009 7:08 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Absolutely.
Just keep feeding him. When he’s like this, he’s like this. Don’t expect him to cool off.
by m-W on Nov 1, 2009 7:08 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I'd rather
keep the lineup how it is. Peja cant handle too many minutes
by LocoSaint on Nov 1, 2009 7:11 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Peja can’t start. He can put up good numbers against other teams second lineup, which he just did. Teams will challenge Peja defensively once those starters come back in, which the Celtics are doing now.
by Nnamdi Asomugha on Nov 1, 2009 7:17 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
This was a winnable game.
Peja with a -11 tonight. Love the points but once the Celtics starters came in he needed to come out. Julian Wright needs to play more than 20 minutes. Brown needs to play less 20 minutes (less than 10 really). Peterson and Posey were both terrible. The inside game wasn’t great but that could change once Diogu and Marks come back. Thornton and Collison need to get some minutes here, this is ridiculous.
Pretty badly coached game if you ask me.
by Nnamdi Asomugha on Nov 1, 2009 7:29 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
