Hornets Fire Byron Scott
Looks like the move has been made, and will be officially announced later today, per ESPN.
More analysis of the firing should follow, but for now, this million word piece is just as applicable now as it was in May.
These were my thoughts back then:
In my mind, the best option is to roll the dice on Scott. Hang on to him, regain some health, field a solid defense, allow good and healthy players to self-correct some offensive shortcomings, and hope the front office can draft a solid rookie to Scott's liking. Byron has his flaws, but in an offseason promising to be among the most turbulent the franchise has ever seen, a little stability can go a long way.
And a 3-6 start hasn't exactly changed my mind. More than anything, this firing seems like a "light a fire under the players" sort of deal. Will it work? I doubt it; firing Scott isn't nearly as imperative as finding a new coach.

the best thing you can hope for..
is that the players were mailing it in and stopped playing for byron.
the worst thing would be that they can’t play much better, and i am not convinced of either.
However, as a former COY, his firing is part of a greater tradition.

"There were arms coming from everywhere, and I knew they weren’t going for the ball," Miller said. "I was just trying to get [the shot] up before they called some crap like ‘on the ground.’ "
"What do you want me to do?" Wright asked. "Do you want me to Derek Fisher him?"
"Give them some fucking credit, i mean for real." Jackson said.
"I just fell on my face for no reason," Bryant deadpanned. "I'm a klutz."
"Fucking right i'm preachin' it!" Carlisle replied.
"Rough life, isn't it. It's tough all over, isn't it." Smith chuckled.

Who will be his replacement
CP3 should not stand in the background anymore. A GM should never coach a team ecspecially if he has never had any experience doing it before. Avery Johnson comes to mind?
Coach of the year a few years back? GM should have been canned first on this one.
What kind of talent is on the trade lines other than Stephen Jackson?

You think so, eh?
You really think CP3 and Iverson could get along on the same team? Iverson couldn’t even get along with himself on the same team. All Iverson would do is further weaken the Hornets with all of the negative off-the-court antics and crying.

Put it this way.
If we’re blistering hot come Dec. 15, no need. But if we still lack punch or offensive creativity, I say let’s do it. Very little risk, because AI is only making $3 mil, and it’s a one year deal.

Can I just ask
where all the “trade West” talk has come from this season?
Yeah, yeah, his defense and rebounding and all that (which strike me as somewhat flawed complaints; I find his man D to be quite reasonable and I imagine his rebounds are down this year because Mek is collecting a few), but this guy is good for 20 a night and is supposed to be one of CP’s best friends on the team, as well as a tenured member of the roster. Not that tenure by itself is reason to keep someone on the team/floor, but in this case I feel it’s worth mentioning.
And mW – I think Iverson could be interesting.
