Random Thoughts

- Quinton Ross will guard Paul from the beginning. He’s only in the starting lineup as a defensive specialist.
- Dirk scored 29 in the 4th last night. This could end very, very poorly.
- Jason Kidd has attempted 16 shots this year. 15 have come from outside 15 feet.
- Dallas has been a very mediocre offensive team, but the league’s 2nd best defense.

That last one is pretty surprising...

Seeing how its generally been the opposite for Dallas.

Anyway, a win is badly needed.

Interesting Stuff

On an interesting note: Sean Marks will be blogging for us this season. I think this is his first one :http://www.nba.com/hornets/news/sean_marks_blog_2009_11_04.html?rss=true

And on a side note: I cannot believe he spelled “neighbour” as “neighbor”. He’s turned American!!

Hornets seem to be doing good

This is the first game I’ve been able to see this year of the Hornets. Hopefully it’ll turn out to be a good one!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:01 PM CST up reply actions

Nicw

You’re good luck

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:02 PM CST up reply actions

Haha

Yeah..I’m on “study leave” for exams. But anyway, interesting thing I noticed, do you guys get ED ads as a frequent thing?

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:03 PM CST up reply actions

My stream stopped

Let’s hope that’s not a sign of worse things to come

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:07 PM CST up reply actions

Haha

Are you watching on ESPN360?

I’m watching it on there. Split screen with an HD feed for the World Series… basically doign that stupid thign they show on all the windows 7 commercials haha

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:08 PM CST up reply actions

Lol

No..ESPN doesn’t allow international viewers on ESPN360. I think originally the ESPN we have here was going to show the game, but instead they’re showing the World Series…when does the baseball game finish? Maybe they’ll switch to the game afterwards…

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:09 PM CST up reply actions

I think

it should end in another hour or so. Yankees look to have it safely in hand.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:10 PM CST up reply actions

Haha

Cool, last I saw they were up 7-1? I’m not a huge baseball fan…cricket’s the game down here!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:12 PM CST up reply actions

Haha I love cricket too

Wish they’d broadcast it here more.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:13 PM CST up reply actions

Oh okay

I always did mention last season that Scott really likes putting a second unit in on their own…I always thought mix and matching would be better

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:15 PM CST up reply actions

Yep.

That’s perhaps one thing he’s willing to change.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:15 PM CST up reply actions

I like it too

Don’t want to see too many possessions with CP not touching it and Brown turning it over though.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:16 PM CST up reply actions

Unrelatedly,

How about Beaubois? I know he only hit 4 shots… but those were some pretty nice looking shots, all.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:17 PM CST reply actions

yeah agreed

Take note Byron. A late first round pick making an impact on a game.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:18 PM CST up reply actions

Haha

The hope of seeing him mix up the rotation with the rookies is encouraging

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:20 PM CST up reply actions

He said

something about changing thigns up if we struggled today and against Toronto. But with B. Brown’s start today, I dunno if he will get Collison too many minutes in the near future.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:21 PM CST up reply actions

So it's one of those games...

See them do well tonight – rotation doesn’t get changed…suck for the next 4/5 games, play good on the 6th – hard for Coach to make up his mind haha…
See them do crap – we lose. And rookies and Ike and Sean come away free!

So is this a win-win or a lose-lose?!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:23 PM CST up reply actions

Ike and Sean are just injured...

but with the rooks, yeah.

Atleast they BETTER be injured, lol.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:24 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah seriously

I’m starting to have doubts. Did a google search for Diogu today and ran across a new story saying he’d be available for a preseason game almost 2 weeks ago…

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:25 PM CST up reply actions

My mind would explode with rage...

If Diogu not playing was a coach’s decision as opposed to a health issue.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:26 PM CST up reply actions

The encouraging thing is that we’re actually getting NEWS on Diogu. He’s been participating in practices which is awesome, but I’d like some news on kiwi

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:26 PM CST up reply actions

Sean Marks' Injury

When I first read it..it was just a minor “sore”, not even strained, neck. How did this work out to be 2 weeks on inactive list?!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:25 PM CST up reply actions

I mean

Okafor/Marks

West/Diogu

would be a frontcourt I think can be really, really good.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:26 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

Marks isn’t good, but as opposed to Hilton… he isn’t actively bad.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:27 PM CST up reply actions

That’s dedication and concentration right there!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:28 PM CST up reply actions

What I would really like to see is...

Sean Marks vs. T-Wolves. I think it’s just me…but those two games (it was two right?) were…wow…and they were the very few games I was able to catch last season!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:30 PM CST up reply actions

Must have been two

I just remember Al Jefferson getting hurt in one of them

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:32 PM CST up reply actions

“Marks dunked with 7.8 seconds left to cap a career-high 18-point effort, and the short-handed Hornets overcame the ejection of David West in a 101-97 victory.” – That was all in 24 minutes along with 5 rebounds. Without TC, CP3 or DX! Oh, and that was that time when he hit a buzzer beater at the end of the 2nd too! And he was firing mid-long range jumpers that were going!

I would like to see more of this this season!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:35 PM CST up reply actions

:(

open threes…

Good to songalia getting some points though.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:23 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

Great move from Posey too. First positive thing he’s done this year.

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:24 PM CST up reply actions

Hmm...

My stream permanently stopped about 2 minutes ago…karma?

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:24 PM CST up reply actions

Let's hold this lead...

Umm…maybe for the REST OF THE GAME?!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:41 PM CST reply actions

That would be nice

Beating a solid team like the Mavs would be a good sign that the team is starting to get on track.

by Caleb462 on Nov 4, 2009 9:43 PM CST up reply actions

Not to mention what a morale boosting win it would be. I think we need to show more confidence on the court

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:43 PM CST up reply actions

*faints*

Was that Hilton Armstrong playing a back-door bounce pass from the post for a baseline-cutting Bobby Brown?!

by Akademik_Hooligan on Nov 4, 2009 9:42 PM CST reply actions

All right

I’m off to get a pizza… Catch you guys on the other side

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:43 PM CST reply actions

Mmmm

Cheese. Tomatoes. Delicious.

Hahahah

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 9:56 PM CST up reply actions

Mmm..

Express Air post it down here!

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 9:44 PM CST up reply actions

SONGAILA!

Lighting it up right now! I love this guy, finally getting more involved. Doing well overall so far, but Juju and the wing players need to get more involved. Bobby Brown shooting well tonight, but I’m still not sold on him being the backup point. I’ll consider him as a Devin Brown player playing a combo 1 and 2 guard with Collison on the floor with him, but him as a pure PG I’m not sold on. The defense looks totally different. Scott must have changed something in his gameplan because thus far the D has been terrific. Hornets please don’t let me have said this too soon. Pull out the win because 2-3 doesnt look nearly as bad as 1-4.

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 9:57 PM CST reply actions

Defense is keeping us in it

As the offense stalls a little bit

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 10:09 PM CST reply actions

Okafor

With the dream shake…

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 10:13 PM CST reply actions

Come on..hold the lead

Just hold the lead….come on…

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 10:15 PM CST reply actions

Really struggling

to come up with the D-boards here..

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 10:17 PM CST up reply actions

CP3

has been in there way too long

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:19 PM CST reply actions

We've had good 3 quarter games

But the 4th quarter games have just been complete breakdowns. Lets hope this game isn’t one of them.

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 10:19 PM CST reply actions

Hey guys

Chris Paul isn’t good at defense!

by Rohan on Nov 4, 2009 10:25 PM CST reply actions

wait what?

Sarcasm right? lol it’s hard to tell since you can hardly tell emotion when looking at letters lol

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:27 PM CST up reply actions

Well

it’s about that time gentlemen. Here goes the game.

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:35 PM CST reply actions

I think we need some wing players

Chris Paul has had to do everything in this game. I would be so mad if I were him.

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:37 PM CST reply actions

Man

forget the Yankees. No one cares about baseball, it’s too easy to buy a championship, which is exactly what the Yankees have done.

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:40 PM CST reply actions

Lol

What I mean is..being a NZer, I don’t watch baseball and basically don’t have an interest in it. ESPN over here in NZ is showing the World Series in preference to the Hornets game

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 10:41 PM CST up reply actions

ohh lol

gotcha i know that feeling

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:42 PM CST up reply actions

Wow...looking at the box score...

We’ve managed to score 4 points in 4 minutes, while Mavs have scored 12. Good thing we made up for it in the first few quarters…kinda..

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 10:43 PM CST reply actions

i wouldnt blame him

id be mad if i had to do everything too

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 10:50 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, its really weird to see such a gifted point guard having to play like a shooting guard

because no one else can make a bucket.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 4, 2009 10:52 PM CST up reply actions

juju

anyone else wish juju would replace brown to get boards and maybe throw a different look at terry for a bit?

by nikita off the backboard! on Nov 4, 2009 10:52 PM CST reply actions

ugh, i think west boxed out okafor.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 4, 2009 11:04 PM CST reply actions

Why

are Bobby Brown and Peja in right now?

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 11:10 PM CST reply actions

Told ya the 3 missed free throws was a sign =)

by JChangNZ on Nov 4, 2009 11:13 PM CST up reply actions

hahahaha.

thats awesome.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 4, 2009 11:11 PM CST reply actions

ive hated on him before but he seems to have put it together tonight. playing pretty decent defense too

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 11:21 PM CST up reply actions

hey good news hornets fans, hubie just declared his son bobby brown came of age
you must feel lucky.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 4, 2009 11:21 PM CST reply actions

Close it out

Almost there. I’m sick of seeing Bobby Brown but at least he shot well for once.

by Nnamdi Asomugha on Nov 4, 2009 11:23 PM CST reply actions

awesome fastbreak.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 4, 2009 11:26 PM CST reply actions

Poor Juju

He didn’t even get 20 minutes…

by LocoSaint on Nov 4, 2009 11:28 PM CST reply actions

agreed. pulled a lot of boards and pressured well on D. hes not a factor offensively…but its not like theyre even trying to make him one. made a few bad decisions but i wish he were out there more.

anyway, great win

by nikita off the backboard! on Nov 4, 2009 11:31 PM CST up reply actions

Whew

Eerily similar to our Dallas win 2 years ago.

At home, Peja hits the improbable three to force overtime, Hornets win in OT.
