Just occurred to me that his being injured is probably why we lost last year.
They have absolutely no answer for DX.
WOW! The offense and defense runs much smoother with him out there.
He even makes the bench respectable.

Great hustle by Butler tonight.
Missed an open three earlier, then ran back to get a block on the fast break, defensively. Then, gets steal after TC and AD trap a Spur, and runs down to get the dunk after his long pass trapped AD by the endline (who then found Bop for said dunk).
Great stuff. You can’t always make the good play in BBall, but you can make sure you have opportunities to do so.
Also correct me if I'm wrong...
If we win, the Rockets lose, and the Blazers lose, then wouldn’t we play San Antonio in the first round?

Wait a minute...
My bad. I kept saying that we’d beat the Spurs yet I gave the Spurs a win. Woops.

Well, we got like 3 minutes of solid bench production
And only 2 minutes of meltdown! Not too bad, right?
Unbelievable how we are now fully healthy and he still is in the rotation. Just wow Byron.

Tyson's back how can we lose?
Rhetorical Answer: Devin Brown. Why don’t we just sign Master P and let him play. He sucks too.
Hornets up this quarter by 2.
Barring a Reggie-Miller like explosion of points, I expect we can say we did much better in the second quarter. Sucks having Tyson back, hunh? ;)
No absolutely not, lol.
However, it sucks having Devin Brown at all. See how we can play against anyone even with Tyson not fully healthy. What would you guys think he’s at? I think he’s around 80%.

Hard to say with only 20 minutes of play..
And he did look winded… the rebounding isn’t quite back yet either…
so, I’m not sure… but seeing this does make me confident he can contribute in the playoffs.
That's what I think.
BTW, is there anyway we can avoid the Rockets until the conference finals?

It all depends what happens with the other games tonight
Rockets are the most likely first round opponent if Hornets get a win tonight, but again… it depends.
But if the Hornets did manage to make a run to the conf. finals… I’m pretty sure they’d be seeing the Lakers not the Rockets
If I'm right then I would rather...
lose this game to S.A. and rest our starters putting S.A. 54-28 and us at 49-33. The Rockets lose to the Mavs to put the Rockets at 53-29 and the Mavs 50-32. The Blazers beat the Nuggets making both teams 54-28. That would put the seeding as following:
2.) Denver
3.) Blazers
4.) S.A.
5.) Rockets
6.) Mavs
7.) N.O.
We would then face Denver in Round One and then the winner of the Blazers-Mavs matchup. If we beat Denver then we can easily take either the Blazers or the Mavs as we’ve proven when fully healthy(WHICH WE FINALLY ARE!!!!) Then lastly we would face the Lakers in the Conference Finals most likely.

So Julien and Mo, our biggest talent on the bench.
Remains on the bench. Love the game so far, but sad that Byron is that stubborn.
If we want to win the championship.

Um I love CP but I didn't see any foul on the shot. Afterwards definitely but not in the act of shooting.

I'm really excited for what Chandler did in the first half
Especially defensively. Win or lose, tonight is an awesome success.
D-WEST FOR THREE!??!?!?

This win would be such a nice boost going into the playoffs
Chris does look gassed though.
draft dejuan blair
Well he'll have like a week off before playoffs start.
When exactly is that lol

Mo Pete or JuJu but what do I know. DEVIN BROWN 4 MVP!

Finally Peja got a clean look
And was able to sink it.
Spurs have been playing really aggresive D on Peja… basically denying him the ball.
if they win
and NO win, it’s a Portland-NO matchup. Denver won’t be playing for anything.
draft dejuan blair
No. Oden would be out of the game with 4 fouls by the end of the first.

He's coming off the bench
and Portland grabs 38% of offensive rebounds with him in the game.
draft dejuan blair
He'll definitely foul out a couple times. LMA can't guard D-West forcing Oden to help and then foul.

We're meant to lose so we can play Denver.
Devin Brown is a basketball God!
Yep.
I think Dallas has a real shot at S.A. too so if they win it would be real nice.

Yeah, we barely missed em all year
Statistically anomalous, so I’m not worried. All in all, this is lining up perfectly.
We could draw Denver 1st, and if we somehow can get Chandler full health, then SA in the 2nd.
Possibly Dallas too. We would not have lost tonight if Tyson was playing in the second half either.
They couldn’t defend the pick n roll alley oop even though Tyson was not elevating like normal.

I was just thinking that all the teams we have troubles with will be eliminated before they can face us.
We basically have our same seed as last year. No Houston, Utah, or Portland even though we match up well with them.
Devin Brown is a basketball God!
Does anyone think that Byron has secretly masterminded a good bracket for the 2nd year in a row?
(The NBA: sport of conspiracies…)
So if all goes well and proper...
We face the Spurs in the Conference Finals once again. Only one small difference; they don’t have Manu who absolutely destroys us because we have no cover for him. So basically we’re facing this same team tonight with Tyson playing in the second half which probably means win. I mean if the Spurs didn’t have Manu last year, they don’t advance past us. He murders us honestly.

I'd argue, as a fan of both teams
that New Orleans wants no part of Portland. A hobbled Chandler vs. Przybilla/Oden…
draft dejuan blair
I agree
But I’d much rather face Portland than Houston. Hornets played the Blazers pretty well minus Chandler (if I’m remembering correctly).
You are correct. Plus we just don't match up with Houston at all.
We played Portland well this year without TC and basically went 3-1 against them. So I’m not scared at all of Portland but I’m not gonna beg to play them. I’ll let them be eliminated by the Spurs/Lakers and then worry about the Lakers.

basically went 3-1?
Roy missed a game, Paul missed a quarter. That’s at least even.

by Cablinasian on Apr 15, 2009 10:07 PM CDT up reply actions
Both teams were basically expecting B-Roy to miss that game so both teams were able to make adjustments to their gameplans.
On CP3’s case, it was a freak thing plus we had the game in hand when he went down. We were up 20 when he left so just figure if he stays in we get that win and go 3-1.

by chandlerfan6 on Apr 15, 2009 10:14 PM CDT up reply actions
I don't buy that theory
the teams were tied with eight minutes left in the fourth, at which point Portland had no go-to guy.
The Blazers have lost six home games all year with Roy, and four with Blake and Roy. It’s not like with him playing it’s a guaranteed win.
iT doesn’t matter anyway, right? The Hornets have a great draw and that’s good news.

Very true. It doesn't matter. I was sort of pulling for N.O. to lose all night.

Who here thinks Byron letting the Spurs come back tonight was his greatest coaching decision this year?
Devin Brown is a basketball God!
Hahahaha
I don’t know if I’m ready to say we let them come back on purpose… but it sure does work out neatly. Hmmm.
But if we did....
Is it Byron’s best decision yet? It’s definitely up there with playing Devin Brown over Mo Pete and benching that completely useless freakishly athletic guy we have JuJu. I’m not sure it’s really close IMO.

In the back of my mind...
I was wondering if Byron told Posey to do his best to miss those free throws… haha.
