Hopefully. We need TC out there crashing them boards!

If he can get a good pick n roll going with CP3 and catch a few oops, then he’ll free up D-West on the block. We all know we need D-West out there scoring the ball if we wanna win this game.

Devin Brown is a basketball God!

Is it bad

that I dream at night of Brandon Roy and Chris Paul being on the same team?

Optimistic

With so many series in the playoffs right now with teams tied 1-1, it gives me a lot of optimism that the Hornets can pull off tonight’s game and win the series!
Let’s go Hornets!! Woohoo!

yeah

it’s really amazing how close every series is.

Haha

It’s great to see every team fighting it out to the end. That’s passion, something we lack here in NZ for basketball

I still dream of the day I get to watch an NBA game courtside

yeah

The roar that went out when Roy hit the three to go up by six with a minute and a half left was incredible… You have to experience a playoff game in person.

They competed the whole game on both ends and came out with a win. I can only hope the Hornets will do the same tonight.

by JChangNZ on Apr 22, 2009 10:19 PM CDT reply actions

I cant believe Devin left Chauncey open on the perimeter...

Dude actually does something good by grabbing the board and hitting a three, and then he leaves the guy who just dropped 8 three pointers on us OPEN!

ARGH.

by Caleb462 on Apr 22, 2009 10:19 PM CDT reply actions

Another thing is

our play is actually at its worst when we have some starts in and some backups (ie when the bench is gradually being removed). That period is far worse than the actual bench play.

It’s almost as if our guys start relaxing just because they have 2 or 3 starters back in.

by Rohan on Apr 22, 2009 10:21 PM CDT up reply actions

You know

Prior to the Nuggets acquiring CB, they reminded of the Colts teams before we won a Superbowl, powerful offense, no defense.

by metal_militia on Apr 22, 2009 10:20 PM CDT reply actions

Would you say the Super Bowl winning Colts had a good D

Or they just got a real hot streak in the playoffs? It always impressed me how that team turned it on those playoffs, and I guess I chalked it up to coaching.

by Rohan on Apr 22, 2009 10:22 PM CDT up reply actions

It was a combination of both

The biggest difference to the atrocious run D of the Colts in the regular season and the fabulous run D in the playoffs was due to a change at Strong Side LB (putting in Rob Morris over Gilbert Gardner), the return of Bob Sanders, Booger McFarland getting acclimated to the system, and a slight tweak in the defensive scheme.

by metal_militia on Apr 22, 2009 10:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Does Byron cover that in practice?

by crazedmailman on Apr 22, 2009 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Everybody will have to go to the boards.

Tyson will have less and less lift as the game goes on. And they need to grab it with two freakin hands. Whats with this one handed stuff.

by RonD on Apr 22, 2009 10:45 PM CDT up reply actions

More jumpshots

This is why they don’t get to the foul line

by RonD on Apr 22, 2009 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

But Denver has been getting phantom calls on jump shots also

by Rohan on Apr 22, 2009 10:44 PM CDT up reply actions

by JChangNZ on Apr 22, 2009 10:45 PM CDT reply actions

Can I at least get him for defense? I don’t care if he doesn’t take a shot, he will still guard better than Peja.

by crazedmailman on Apr 22, 2009 10:45 PM CDT reply actions

I think offense is the problem right now

The offense has slipped so much from last year to this year, and from pre all-star break to post all-star break.

by Caleb462 on Apr 22, 2009 10:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Well

It’s not like Peja is lighting it up tonight anyway.

by crazedmailman on Apr 22, 2009 11:31 PM CDT up reply actions

THey don’t look like they even believe its possible.

They are not even stopping the ball. THey aren’t playing together.

by RonD on Apr 22, 2009 11:31 PM CDT reply actions

I dont know what happened to this team...

Its like the injuries just completely destroyed the chemistry and their ability to play smart, effective basketball. Tyson is obviously very limited, but its not just that…. everything is just off right now and has been for a while.

by Caleb462 on Apr 22, 2009 11:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Hornets aren't moving much off the ball offensively

And not moving to box out defensively. They’re not really moving to guard in transition. Their sets are so static they might as well be playing wheelchair basketball. Are the Hornets usually this sluggish?

Bork bork bork!

Yep

Rotations been the downfall all year

I wish it would just be over at 2-0

I’m tired of watching them lose but I can’t freaking stop watching. I’m ready for the season to end though. I know, I know… everything is supposed to change when the scenery changes, but this Hornets team has failed just about every big “challenge game” they’ve faced this season outside of 2 or 3.

by Caleb462 on Apr 22, 2009 11:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Melo is just killing Peja

But they need him on the floor for offense.

by RonD on Apr 22, 2009 11:37 PM CDT reply actions

Plus

Melo shooting J’s is actually a good thing in the long run.

by Rohan on Apr 22, 2009 11:38 PM CDT up reply actions

by crazedmailman on Apr 22, 2009 11:39 PM CDT up reply actions

by Rohan on Apr 22, 2009 11:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Like I said

Im all out of optimism.

But yeah I still have hope… I’m just trying to make a loss easier to take by predicting it ahead of time, lol.

by Caleb462 on Apr 22, 2009 11:45 PM CDT up reply actions

if you've played basketball,

its frustrating when you get called for fouls for the same play where they get a no call. maybe that is frustrating them. its up to scott to push them mentally to win this game.

I’m not really a big Byron Scott Fan but the problem in this game was mostly execution….. horrible turnovers, missed shots and lackluster defensive effort. Its on the players.

by RonD on Apr 22, 2009 11:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Well

Last year the we blew out the Spurs in pretty similiar fashion – if i remember right, they were both caused by big 3rd quarter runs in which the Hornets had a lot of transition opportunities.

Unfortunately, I don’t think this Hornets team can pull a Spurs and win 4 of the next 5.

To be fair

New Orleans really doesn’t have much of a team left out there. Denver is way deeper than them.

Does Lord Byron get through to his players? They’ve seemed pretty listless out there. Not really much creativity on offense or execution on defense.
