A good start is imperitive

I don’t think the Nugs will let up 2 games in a row.

by Ryangle Offence on Apr 27, 2009 7:27 PM CDT reply actions

I agree

They have to build on the win. They are pissed they lost that game and believe this series should’ve been a sweep. Hornets better match their intensity

by RonD on Apr 27, 2009 7:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Thanks a lot

I hate how they have playoff games on NBAtv

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

He had a couple easy layins that he passed out

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 7:50 PM CDT up reply actions

David West just doesn't have anything this series

There’s just no way Chris Paul can outmatch Chauncy & Co without West, and he just refuses to show up

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

by Mikethetiger on Apr 27, 2009 7:57 PM CDT reply actions

Can't hope for two Posey miracles

in 2 games. This might be game over here unless something crazy happens. Denver is simply waay better.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 7:58 PM CDT reply actions

Shocking Defense

Nene’s last basket was so incredibly soft for a game of this urgency, really need to pressure every Nugget on the court. Good to see Marks get a rousing reception :)

by Ryangle Offence on Apr 27, 2009 7:59 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah

It’s like “we’re not going to get swept. That was our goal. We can’t beat these guys”

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

Game is over.

I knew this would happen.

New Orleans Hornets: The most inconsistent team in the NBA.

by Grayson on Apr 27, 2009 8:02 PM CDT reply actions

It's not over yet

There’s not really a whole lot of reason to hope otherwise, mind you, but there’s still hope.

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

What team are you talking about?

The Lakers or the Hornets

New Orleans Hornets: The most inconsistent team in the NBA.

by Grayson on Apr 27, 2009 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Billups has almost as many points as we do.

Just unbelievable

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

by Mikethetiger on Apr 27, 2009 8:03 PM CDT reply actions

This is ugly

A 10 or less lead at the half would be the best possible result from here. But if this keeps up the game is gone big time.

by Ryangle Offence on Apr 27, 2009 8:04 PM CDT reply actions

We cannot get a bucket if we paid for it.

When it can’t drop for CP, and he only has 2, we’re in trouble

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

by Mikethetiger on Apr 27, 2009 8:07 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah

As much as the energy hasn’t been there, Denver simply has far better, far healthier players than us. It’s not a fair matchup in any sense.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 8:09 PM CDT up reply actions

As weird as it is to say this

I think Sean Marks is the key to the game. He’s shown more intensity than anyone else, and right now he’s far better than tyson

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

by Mikethetiger on Apr 27, 2009 8:09 PM CDT reply actions

I think the difference is Marks is 33 at the tail end of a pretty l;ong career and this could be his one chance to contribute to a playoff team whereas Tyson is young and injured and probably thinking about his future a lot.

by Ryangle Offence on Apr 27, 2009 8:13 PM CDT up reply actions

They're not

David West is as un-physical a defender as you’ll find out there. Tyson really can’t move. The most contact in the paint is gonna come from Sean Marks… which tells the whole story.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 8:12 PM CDT up reply actions

On the bright side.

In my 2k9 playoff series against the Nuggets in the second round I am up 45-30 mid second Q.

Yea

In arena must be horrible. We’re clearly not good enough to come back, and yet you can’t just leave. It’s the last home game of the year.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 8:22 PM CDT up reply actions

It's sad

that the only team with a shot at LA- Portland- is pretty much done. Denver will get beat down by LA, Houston maybe takes it to 6 at most, Dallas gets beat down… LAL-CLE, here we come.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 8:27 PM CDT reply actions

I'd like to think so

But from what I recall of regular season matchups, those were massacres without Andrew Bynum.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 8:48 PM CDT up reply actions

And I mean

I really, really hope Denver could beat LA. Just don’t think it’s possible.

it sucks that the Blazers pulled their worst matchup in the first round.

Maybe so,

But regular season doesn’t matter. And LA plays D like Houston so it wouldn’t matter come playoff time.

by CCH on Apr 27, 2009 8:58 PM CDT up reply actions

LA plays D like Houston?

I disagree. Houston is the exactly wrong matchup for Portland, as they have two elite defenders to throw at Brandon Roy, and a bad matchup for Travis Outlaw. Brandon reguarly owns the Lakers, as Ariza and Walton have no chance at stopping him. Kobe didn’t fare well in the most recent battle either… Phil doesn’t want him on Roy, using all his energy on the defensive end.

Rudy is a bad matchup for LA… he’s far too athletic for Vujacic. LMA plays extremely well against Gasol. Oden has shut down Bynum, scoring and rebounding.

It would probably be a seven game series.

whatever you say. Kobe/ Ariza come playoff time will play just as tough of D as Battier/ Artest.

Portland is too young and inexperienced/ dont play any D to win in the playoffs. In a few years that should change though.

by CCH on Apr 27, 2009 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Ariza was hopeless guarding Roy

there is no chance that Ariza and Kobe are anywhere near as dominant as Artest and Battier.

Portland

They can challenge LA but so can Denver. Bottom line is it will be hard for any team to battle them on their floor. Did the Blazers win the season series with LA? I give props if they did, but you have to win in on the road in the playoffs. It’s not a mistake the Lakers murdered the west by 10+ games. I hate them, but I give credit where credit is due.

the score is pretty sad right now...

but defensive stops and our players getting going… that is the key.
And Scott may yell their heads off to get them back into the game.

Im not all that surprised.

These guys are pretty bad. I mean we didn’t play that well last game. This offseason I also wouldn’t mind cleaning out the closet.

by Grayson on Apr 27, 2009 9:20 PM CDT reply actions

No I think they are demorablized and don't even want to play.

They were blown out the first two games and barely mustered up enough energy to win game 3. You would think they would come out hard after actually winning. But no. it’s more of the same

The truth is the team does not have the right players to play with any athletic team.

by RonD on Apr 27, 2009 9:29 PM CDT up reply actions

they need more role players

not a stinky bench. and relying too much on D. West and CP3

by RonD on Apr 27, 2009 9:35 PM CDT reply actions

Cmon Shinn

Time to ante up for once, buy out Scott , fire Bower’s retarded ass, and try to package these worthless, overpaid scrubs for something at least respectable. You’re paying TC, Peja, AD, Mo, and Posey roughly $45 million combined. DW and Rasual have decent contracts but they are also the only assets with ANY value at all so they will probably have to be moved as well. I’m willing to go through a rebuilding year or two due to being a Saints fan, maybe other Louisiana people won’t be, but you have to take the risk.

by kitsunegari on Apr 27, 2009 9:36 PM CDT reply actions

The good thing about this

is that there’s no way we’re going to stand pat. We should see a major house-cleaning. Injuries just don’t account for this kind of ass-kicking.

I hope Scott gets canned.

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

by Mikethetiger on Apr 27, 2009 9:37 PM CDT reply actions

That may be true

But this offseason certainly holds no positive promise. In all probability we trade away Chandler for a couple expirings, after which we’re still over the cap, and can’t sign any new players. Highly doubtful that next year’s team is very different from this incarnation, certainly from a core perspective.

And even if they fire Scott… who else is out there to coach us? Why would anyone want to coach this mess of a team trying desperately to trade away its 27 year old center?

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 9:40 PM CDT up reply actions

but at least they’ll FREE MOPETE!

Bork bork bork!

by Avinash Kunnath on Apr 27, 2009 9:43 PM CDT up reply actions

We have no assets really

W/o CP this is the worst team in the NBA. If we can fire Bower and Scott and find a way to jettison at least two of the following scrubs: AD, TC, Posey, Mo, and Peja i’ll be somewhat happy.

by kitsunegari on Apr 27, 2009 9:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Peja and Posey are as unmoveable as anyone in the league.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 9:47 PM CDT up reply actions

If we could find a way to package

one of them + AD’s expiring contract and DW maybe for some cheap young talent like Rudy Gay or? TC’s limited trade value is even less now, Mo is a bum

by kitsunegari on Apr 27, 2009 9:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Exactly

The only way we get rid of those is if we include someone actually good like DX. Which would really hurt Chris Paul’s chances of staying in New Orleans.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 9:56 PM CDT up reply actions

problem is will cleaning house affect their win now goal?

And when that happens how does that affect CP wanting to be on this team. CP signed a deal for 3 years with an option in the 4th correct? So basically he saying in case the team did not deliver as far as building a winning team I’m out. If this end to this season does not make them change things, they will lose CP

by RonD on Apr 27, 2009 9:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Good points all

I think the biggest issue is that we CANT clean house this summer. If we could clean up in one season, hold on to West and CP, we’d be back up after a couple drafts. The biggest issue is we have to wade in mediocrity until 2011 and THEN start the rebuilding process. Of course, that’s right around the time Paul’s new contract expires (2013 I believe). All in all, the Posey and MoPete deals could very well end up costing us Chris Paul.

I have a loong post coming up about Jeff Bower. Suffice it to say, he has the future of this franchise in jeopardy.

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 9:55 PM CDT up reply actions

The Hornets might trade CP3 (he'll probably demand something behind the scenes)

Shinn is a notorious cost-cutter, the team is losing money, and there’s no way the team can compete for titles in the near future. New Orleans is in deep financial trouble, esp. with the economy. And Paul isn’t going to wait for the team to rebuild.

This team is similar to manuless spurs

With only one playmaker (Parker/Paul) and one Post player (Duncan/West) The rest are bad roleplayers if they dont hit shots. Both teams need a slashing/playmaking guard

Got down by 20 in the first

never recovered. CP was beat up all over the court while Nuggets got whatever they wanted. He couldn’t get anywhere on the court to either score or pass. They locked him down and was totally taken out of the game. Pretty much the same as games 1 and 2 but far worse as the final score displays.

Doubt it

by Rohan on Apr 27, 2009 10:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Another thought considering our limited talent

Could we maybe package TC and/or DW + a pick + AD (expiring contract) for Amare and Garic or Barbosa? Suns are rebuilding and may buy into TC and DW being able to work in a new system. My only other suggestion would be a move at some of the Grizz cheap young talent (assuming they are the new Clippers). We could also throw in Scott and Bower as assistant trainers or ball boys lol.

by kitsunegari on Apr 27, 2009 10:12 PM CDT reply actions

The front office probably convinces themselves

that it was all injuries. And sits pat after getting rid of Chandler for peanuts. In case you can’t tell, I have no faith in Jeff Bower after 5 years of idiotic moves.
