Chandler on the Move?

ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that Chandler could be on the move to Charlotte for Emeka Okafor.  It also states that other players/teams could be included.  Considering how dire the Hornets cap is looking, there has to be more involved.

Haven't really followed Emeka all that much but I do know he's a little undersized to play C.  In the past, he tried to bulk up a little too much and he missed significant time to injury.  That said, he seems to be a little more durable and has the potential to expand his offensive game (although he really hasn't done it yet after quite a few years in the league).  What do you guys think?

Just heard this too

It’s also reported on NOLA.com. Okafor’s numbers were better than Chandler’s last year, so sounds like an improvement to me!

Using the NBA trade machine

This would increase our wins by 5

WTH

i don’t really think Okafor helps our situation. We needed front court help and what we get is basically the same person, when healthy. This is what I was afraid of after how OKC destroyed Chandler’s image. Looking at TCs GP since his rookie year, he has only missed significant games in 2 seasons( last season and 03 – 04). Everything else his played in 70+ games. That freaking toe injury should never been announced. It should have been kept to a low.

BUT!

IF there were other player’s involved in this trade. maybe……
I can’t think of anybody in there that would help us. The best i can think of is Diop or Nazr. But both of them have huge contracts.

Maybe http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nlv7zy

now i dont know anything about dontell jefferson, but we save 5 million there, we’d be under the cap and still have a competitive team.

Paul – Collison ( a combination which blows my mind)
Peterson – Thornton
Peja – Posey
West – Wright – Armstrong
Okafor – Mohammed – Armstrong

that would be a competitive team( maybe not championship material but hey im a fan so) maybe even a championship material(LOL)!

My qualms about the trade is that we lose TC and the CCC. Nonetheless, TC and Okafor are the same. TC gets his offense from Lobs, Tip backs, Drop off, or such. Okafor, besides getting them from how TC gets his, has a more refined post move( which isn’t saying much really).

Overall, if it pushes through being just a 1 – 1 trade i’d be sad. If there were other players involved( not named West, Paul, Wright) for Okafor and a Big Man, i’d be thrilled.

edit

i might have been mistake. im sorry. after the blog post over hornets247.com, i saw the difference in chandler and okafor. what a huge difference in their offensive skills! i always thought Okafor was the same man as chandler. i was mistaken.

I’m just glad the management’s goal is still to win and not cut back salary.

Glad you noticed...

The Bobcats fanboys are trying to pretend there’s no difference.

Meka

I watched this guy in college, (Being maybe one of 3 hornets fans our here in CT) and I love this move. Tyson did alot, I am not a Tyson basher. But the more I think about it, the more I love it. I mean, only thing Chandler did offensively was flush CP alley oops down, he has no post game, no offensive skills whatsoever, he was basically just a big body.

Yes Emeka is undersized, but hes a great defensive player. Chandler been around for 8 years, and has never lived up to his hype. Averages in those 8 years include 8 PPG, 8 REB PG and a block. Meka been around 5 years, AVG for Points is 14, REB AVG is over 10 and Blocks Per Game is almost 2. Okefor is a better player, flat out. This was a great deal for the Hornets, now Hilton can work under his former college practice player and develop behind him.

C- Okefor
PF- West
SF- Peja
SG- Peterson, Butler, Thornton ?
PG- CP3
With Collison, Posey, Hilton, Wright, Thornton all on the bench I think we can compete for sure this year.
