Whew!
Was worried about yet another season on who spells the front line starters. Granted, I’ll reserve praise for Ike once he performs on the court, but it’s NICE to see we won’t have to rely on Ely or Armstrong as much.
I'm no commie, but the Reds shall be the best again!
Decent
But the Hornets now have one of the shortest front courts in the league. I like Diogu, but the Bugs need a legit 7-footer on the squad, and Hilton Armstrong does not count.
+1

Not many teams have a myriad of legit 7-footers
Just having one on the roster is a plus. And Okafor plays like a 7footer. I think New Orleans is fine.

I'd have to disagree
for everything great that Okafor will bring—you’ll see a difference in his more refined post game than Chandler, and his knack for blocking shots, something Chandler didn’t do too often (considering he’s 7-1 and can leap)—one thing Okafor cannot do is play like a 7-footer. He doesn’t have the springs that Ben Wallace did, nor is he a wide body like Reggie Evans or Chuck Hayes who use their low positioning to make things hard on bigger guys. He’s 6-9, maybe 6-10, and he battles, think Elton Brand without the jumper. That’s not a bad thing, of course. My only concern is that adding Diogu, who I most certainly believe will be a valuable asset off the bench, but who is also 6-8, to a frontcourt that includes the 6-8 David West and the turnover machine known as Hilton Armstrong, will make it tough to compete in the uber tall West. Portland, the Lakers, the Spurs, the Mavericks all have 7-footers. Even the bubble teams like the Suns and Warriors have length. And Utah might not have 7-footers, but they have length up and down their roster. Really wished the team had gone after Rasho Nesterovic. I mean, he signed for a measly $1.9 million.

Oh...
And Okafor also has historically matched up really well with guys like Shaq, Yao, and Andrew Bogut (all 7-footers, obviously.)

Okafor has the same standing reach and wingspan as Chandler.
Did Chandler make a lot of blocks with the top of his head?

New Orleans has really had a good offseason so far
They shored up their frontcourt depth and avoided a frivilous salary dump that could have seriously averted fans. I was pulling for Ike Diogu to come to Detroit, I wonder what type of contract he’s signed. Does New Orleans have much of the MLE left?
