Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

According to ESPN, the Jazz will barely edge us out for the 6 seed, putting us right back where we were last year. Here's an excerpt:

"It was a disappointing season in New Orleans, relative to the high expectations they started with, but they still won 49 games and they still have Chris Paul. The Hornets are another of the West's "if everything breaks right" contenders, as they need Julian Wright, Ike Diogu and Hilton Armstrong to do more to justify being lottery picks."

Can't argue

about the predicted finish. If things go right, mainly Peja increasing his effectiveess (by staying healthy), this team could challenge for a first round bye. Having what appears to be a more productive bench also looks to help. At least we don’t have to rely on Chandler this season.

I'm no commie, but the Reds shall be the best again!

Yeah...

I see it the potential seeding going something like:

1:
Lakers

2:
Spurs

3-7:
Niggets
Blazers
Hornets
Jazz
Mavericks

8:
Phoenix

3 through 7 are totally up for grabs. I don’t see a clear winner out of that group. At least not until we can see how these off-season acquisitions affect each team.

Agree

I don’t put too much stock into what ESPN says, Miami Heat 5th seed?, but I think they have the Hornets positioned correctly.

I can see the Hornets movin up the ranks if Peja comes healthy, Wright makes that jump, and Mo Pete returns to form. With Emeka, CP3, & West you know what you’ll be getting. The bench and the rest of the starters are ????

My predictions are:

1.Lakers
2.Blazers
3.Spurs (Spurs do like to cruise through reg. season)
4.Nuggets
5.Jazz
6.Dallas
7.Hornets
8.Suns/Clippers/Warriors

I second this.

I Disagree.

Strongly. Hornets will contend. Count on it. Although, ESPN’s MVP article was miserable. Not one vote for CP. I already had that conversation, though, on the Hype. I still think we take the division. So top 3.

Possible

In my prediction I figure Peja would be in and out of the lineup and MoPete along with the bench & rookies would be inconsistent. In my opinion to be top 3 I think the Hornets need a “perfect storm” season,

1. Health: Peja, MoPete have to be healthy. Butler is gone so MoPete is gonna have to show up.

2. Houdini works his 07/08 magic and makes everybody better

3. The 2 rookies don’t get “JR Smithed”. Critical IMO. CP3 can’t play 48min every game but the Hornets need him runnin the offense. In the game against the Bulls I remember the Hornets were down by 10ish when CP3 went to the bench. Fast forward, when CP3 reenters the game they are down by 20-30ish. Hopefully Collison can ease the pressure off CP3.

But yea Hornets could be top 3 especially since we know Spurs like to take it easy in the reg. season. But I just can’t see Hornets being real playoff contenders until the bench gets stronger and the rookies get some experience. Next season 2010-2011 I can see the Hornets much improved, especially if they use the expiring contracts and don’t see off draft picks ;) .

This season more of a wash.

Chris Paul Autographed Jersey Giveaway Contest

Whatever happened to the Right Guard Jersey contest, hmmm? You guys never announced a winner, though according to the post, the winner should’ve been announced on Monday. Was that a scam of some sort, or do you guys just not have the jersey any longer?

"Was that a scam of some sort"

Haha yes we made up that we were collaborating with Right Guard. Check the post, winner has been contacted.
