Hornets A-Z: Dell Demps
My "D" article is on Dell Demps, the new General Manager. Sorry for the break, but I'm going to try and get back on track.
Dell Demps, plucked from Phoenix's grasp to be the Hornets new General Manager. Was the GM of San Antonio's D-League Austin Toros and the Director of Pro Personnel of the parent club. He was courted by Phoenix for the vice president of basketball operations. Demps immediatly began making changes to the roster, trading Darren Collison and James Posey to Indiana for Trevor Ariza in a four team trade. Digging into the D-League for Mustafa Shakur, Joe Alexander, D.J. Strawberry, and Daryll Watkins. Signing Pops Mensah-Bonsu, and Michael Washington.
Demps showed that he's not afraid to give young, unproven players contracts. Whether they've ever been in the NBA isn't a question. The question is, can they play? Demps has given the Hornets a new look. Before, we were filled with old, washed up, players with bad contracts (ie. Morris Peterson, Peja Stojakovic & James Posey) Now we're filled up with young, hungry players. Demps has shown he's not afraid to make deals, and he's the right man at the right time.

Nice, I'm enjoying these a lot
I agree with you, love his deal-making abilities so far. We’ll have to see how the Trevor Ariza trade pans out, but Jason Smith looks like a way better pick up than I originally thought, and the Bayless trade looks sweet on paper.
Agreed
I imagine things at this point would be vastly different (as in the negative) had Demps not been hired.
