A Night Off!!

Unfortunately, I have a second consecutive Hornets game night off, but my Chargers’ season is on the line tonight on Monday night football so I may be in and out in terms of tonight’s game. Onto the game itself, I expect the Hornets to really play crisp basketball tonight. Or at least they should. Let’s face it, the two victories over Cleveland and Sacramento were not impressive at all and with games coming up at Utah, at Portland and then at home against the Spurs, the Hornets really can’t afford to slip up and lose tonight’s game to a Clippers team that is really talented, but playing very poor basketball.

Hopefully they can take advantage of the Clippers’ recent horrible defensive play and get off to a big start as they did a couple weeks ago.

But I’m always nervous when one of my teams has a long winning streak over a particular team because it has to end at some point. Let’s hope the Hornets come to play for four quarters tonight.

I hope David gets early fouls on Red....

…. Did you see the dunks Red had last week?
Eric Gordon could be trouble too… Long winning streaks make me nervous also…as bad as the Clippers have looked at times , they’re getting paid too.

Could be a bit of a slip-up game

Clippers are talented and by no means is the 1-13 record reflective of that talent. However I do think we need to get this win because we have some tough ones coming up against the Jazz, Trail Blazers and Thunder. We could whined up finishing with a 12-4 record after all these upcoming games, which is by no means bad, it’s just we aren’t notorious for a our ability to play on the road yet.

They could all change if we win some of these games, but you know.

I think he has been

19.3 PER so far to West’s career 18.8 (though DX is at 20.6 this season). West is the more efficient scorer, but Griffin’s 13/25/19 rebound line dwarfs West’s 8/15/11.

I think West has the slight edge, but it’s really close in my opinion.

by Rohan on Nov 22, 2010 9:31 PM CST up reply actions

True.

But David has the consistency over a large sample size. Griffin does not. Nor has Griffin proved he can sustain the grind of the NBA.

And they still have a "Heat Index"

So much for objective journalism. Then again, doesn’t Hollinger just have some formula? Anyone now why the Heat are so high on his scale?

by m-W on Nov 22, 2010 9:36 PM CST up reply actions

Point differential

And schedule. They’ve blown out bad teams, and they’ve already played some of their toughest games of the year (@New Orleans, @Boston, vs Boston). You could make the case that point diff. against weak teams should be less weighted… BUT blowing out bad teams has historically been a great indicator of which teams will succeed in the playoffs/Finals.

But I agree, the bias by most others has been stunning to see.

by Rohan on Nov 22, 2010 9:41 PM CST up reply actions

The nba.com rankings have us at #2...

…behind the Spurs. Probably comes down to judgment call on what you use as a tiebreaker – recent form or the Hornet’s win over the Spurs? (I think Mark Stein went with the latter, nba.com with the former).

With the loss to Indiana tonight, I expect the way premature Heat deathwatch to begin any day. Of course, even if they continue to under-perform for the rest of the year, they’ll probably come back next season to destroy us all.

Chargers Game Is Over

I should be around for the second half now. When I said take advantage of the Clippers defense, I didn’t imagine they’d be giving up so many points to go with it. Whose really gone off on either side so far? 57-55 is a lot at the half for a Hornets game this year.

"Wally: [going home in a taxicab] I treated myself to a taxi. I rode home through the city streets. There wasn't a street, there wasn't a building, that wasn't connected to some memory in my mind. There, I was buying a suit with my father. There, I was having an ice cream soda after school. And when I finally came in, Debbie was home from work, and I told her everything about my dinner with Andre."

Blake Griffin

should have two technical fouls based on the new rules. When he was called for traveling in the first half he screamed “No F’n way” at the refs, and now he is showing them up by walking off the court with his hands in the air.

Amazing

that Okafor hasn’t taken advantage of Jordan

and CP3 of rookie PG’s for most of the night

Really wondering what's up with CP lately...

Is he purposely holding himself back? Are there lingering injury issues?

He’s been a different guy the past few games.

This Just Sucks

It makes me sick to see a 1 win Clippers team want it more. Losing the game due to offensive rebounds to Blake Griffin and Ryan Gomes. Disgusting.

Well that sucked, the clips should never win with they way they played.

Weird that with all the Clippers FT woes...

…West 2-4 down the stretch, and Ariza’s 0-2 likely cost us this game. No doubt, plenty of other things to blame, just looking at this one thing. Sad.
