Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Note to Bower....If DC has to go....give us Danny Granger or Andrew Bynum

Option 1:

DC, Okafor, Posey, and Julian Wright for Danny Granger, Troy Murphy and AJ Price.

Murphy isn't much on D, but he is 6'11 with scoring and rebounding ability. Price fits a 10 min role behind CP3. Granger is from New Orleans and would instantly become our 2nd best player.

Starters: CP3 Thornton Granger  West Murphy

Bench:Price, Peja, Pondexter, Brackins etc.

Option 2:

DC, Okafor, Aaron Gray (sign and trade) for Andrew Bynum

Starters CP3 Peja Pondexter West Bynum

Bench: Thornton, Ju Ju, Posey, Brackins

Option 3

Stand pat

CP3 Thornton Pondexter West Okafor

DC Peja, Ju Ju, Posey, Brackins

I think we should really try to pull a trade for Danny Granger

I would buy that jersey in a heartbeat

This draft screams Dynasty. If that's the case, then I say, let the Saints Reign begin!

Would love to see Granger

in a hornets uniform. Bynum is injury-prone, though.

i second

although i think granger cannot be had. Bird loves him too much..

Could happen because

Granger is already 27 and he’s a volume scorer (misses tons of shots) who is best suited to be a #2 option on a playoff team. Also, the Pacers aren’t headed anywhere: they added Paul George; a wing that will compete with Granger, Daunte Jones, Brandon Rush and Dunleavy for minutes. Pacers need a PG to team with George, Roy Hibbert, and Rush to build around. I think the Pacers would be better having DC instead of Granger and vice-versa for our Hornets.

What do you think about

signing Tracy McGrady. He could come off the bench for some scoring spark.

by OnPointLikeCP3 on Jun 28, 2010 12:02 PM CDT reply actions

Good idea if......

McGrady is willing to drop his ego. I think he can start for us if in shape. I believe the Hornets are better if Thornton comes off the bench.

Also,

We’re giving up 3 players for 1 for the worse player.

by OnPointLikeCP3 on Jun 28, 2010 12:03 PM CDT reply actions

Worse?

I assume you mean Bynum ?

DC is a great player but he plays the same position as the Hornets future HOF CP3. Can’t co-exist in my opinion. DC will want out eventually because he’s a starter.

Okafor is an undersized, robotic center. His double-double career avg seems to be a product of playing on a 30 win team (Bobcats).

Bynum would give give us a 21 year old legit 7 footer with skill and size to dominate. If healthy, he’s the best or 2nd best center (Dwight Howard) in the NBA for the next 7 years.

Best PG, Best Center a la Magic/Kareem=rings.

I would love DC in California Purple and Gold

especially since Farmar is probably leaving and we could use a solid point (I don’t care what people say about how the triangle doesn’t need a traditional point. Having Fisher and Sasha as our only point guards just doesn’t sit well with me.)

As much as I love the big fella, I just don’t know how much of his career he will be playing injury free. Not that I think this trade would ever happen, but if it did I would hope Bynum could stay healthy for you guys.

by BruinDrums on Jun 30, 2010 11:45 AM CDT reply actions

Agreed

It works for both if Bynum is healthy and DC keeps getting better.

Can't see the Pacers giving up Granger

And I’m not very high on Murphy.

Option 2 seems intriguing, but Bynum’s knee scares me.

Knee scares me too

But bynum is so young; at 21 or 22, I would take that risk.

Granger is good, but he’s already 27 and he shot 43% on a team looking ready for at least 2 more consecutive lottery trips.

I’m not high on Murphy either, but I think he is a better shooter and rebounder than Okafor.
