The Field Guide to Commenting
Over the past two months, we've seen a great increase in readers and commenters on At the Hive. Conversation here has been, for the most part, smart and well-mannered. As more and more users access the site, now's as good a time as any to establish some site ground rules.
1. NO POLITICS
2. NO RELIGION
3. NO PROFANITY
4. USE SENTENCES
5. USE THE REPLY BUTTON
6. BE REASONABLE
7. THE 9/11 RULE
8. REC COMMENTS
One of the great things about the SBN platform is the community's ability to provide instantaneous feedback to comments. Stealing from Liberty Ballers' rec how-to-guide:
Click 'actions'.
Then click either 'rec' or 'flag'.
Witness the magic as the comment turns green!
On At the Hive, a comment will turn green after it has been recommended two times. If you think a comment is clever, funny, smart, or awesome, let the author of the comment know by reccing it. It's visually more appealing than writing "+1" or similar.
9. FLAG COMMENTS
On the flip side, the community can also flag bad comments. It works the same way as reccing; however, you need to provide a reason for the flag (spam, inappropriate, etc). The moderators can then track down the offending comments.
10. NO DIRECT PERSONAL ATTACKS
No name calling, no insults based on race, gender, creed, orientation... you get the picture. Again, this should be a self explanatory rule. Offenders will be warned on the first offense, and banned for later offenses.

If you see a well-intentioned commenter breaking a rule, kindly point them in the right direction. Anybody that follows these ten rules is probably a great commenter, and overall awesome human being. And propositions for new rules are always accepted, because hey, who doesn't love to follow rules. That's it for now. I'm out like LBJ.

You forgot...
to add “NO CP3 RIDICULOUS TRADE SCENARIOS THAT HAVE THE HORNETS GETTING CRAP IN RETURN FOR THE GREATEST POINT GUARD IN THE GAME”
We can call it the “NCP3RTSTHTHGCIRFTGPGITG” rule for short.

There's another rule guide for FanPosts coming soon
This is just for commenting, where we haven’t really had issues wit hthat
Haha
Very nice.

Blazer fan here. This made me giggle quite a bit.
Blazersedge has been overrun with Chris Paul trade ideas, to the point that it’s now a big joke. Does the sun rise in the east? It’s a sign that CP3 is coming to Portland.
Even Hollinger commented on it — “Blazer fans, stop asking me about CP3. Not happening for at least a year, if ever.”
Good Rule/z!
Good rule! I understand not posting multiple times, don’t quite understand “baiting for responses”, since if there is no comment from ATH in re a comment directed at you, do we just construe silence as an answer or that you’ve missed it? that sounds like it could rather arbitrarily enforced, but big-picture i dig, rock on

If there's no comment
Just say “hey @th, could you comment about X that I talked about the other day.” The more direct we all are, the less miscommunication type stuff, we’ll have. Thanks.
The most important thing...
We should totally bring back Sean Marks! Who’s with me? Um, anyone?
Aw come on, guys, he’s cheap and.. um…. ahhh… did I mention he’s cheap?
Gee, the crickets are awfully loud in here…

I Love Sean Marks
So long as he’s not playing. But I always go to the Hornets games here in San Antonio (which sucks because they never win here) and Marks will always talk with me after shoot arounds before the game.

maybe
we could pay him as our first male cheerleader. he’d still wear the NOH uniform & look like a player, he’d just be barred from taking the floor & the fans could view him like the team walk-on, a la scalabrine

He would be a great Scalabrine for this team
Only issue is head have to have something going on with his hair, or facial hair to make him look very odd. I guess his accent is odd enough, heck even me an Australian thinks that the Kiwi accent is awfully perculur.

Australia
Is a beautiful place. Didn’t know the Hornets were an attractive team to people outside of even the country lol. That’s actually great to know.

Used to have a Hornets basketball and just kept supporting them.
From the Baron Davis days to now, it’s been quite a ride.
