Chris Paul Rumors are Flying

So let's try to ground them a little. First, here's the Times-Pic:

Though New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul has two years remaining on his contract before he can opt out, his new agent, Leon Rose, who also represents LeBron James, is currently gauging interest from various teams that could seek to obtain him in a trade, according to league sources.

*snip*

"No one from our camp has said that Chris demanded a trade,'' a source close to Paul said Thursday. "But they (Hornets) have not put themselves in position to win this season. We have the same team as last year, basically. The only thing that matters to Chris is winning.''

I'm sick of hearing about sources close to Paul. I hate this kind of vague innuendo. I wonder if this type of behavior started when Chris signed on to LRMR, or if it just seems more prevalent now.

But wait, ESPN says Chris Paul HAS A LIST!!!!! (Dun dun DAAAAH!!!!)

Star-divide

The New York Knicks are the first team on point guard Chris Paul's wish list of clubs he'd like New Orleans to trade him to, according to sources.

Orlando, where he could team with superstar center Dwight Howard, is the second team on Paul's list, which includes Dallas and then Portland, according to sources.

In the ideal scenario, Paul and the Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony would wind up in New York to play alongside Amare Stoudemire, forming a big three that could compete with Miami's newly formed super trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

"Those guys want to beat the three guys in Miami," a source close to the situation said. A report Wednesday on CBSSports.com said Paul saw what James did in signing to play alongside Wade and Bosh and has designs on doing something similar.

Yeah, so the wedding toast thing is back on the table. Fantastic. That list just sounds like an amalgamation of all the places that "sources" have already speculated might be destinations for Paul.

And Ball Don't Lie has an awesome post about the Chris Paul extravaplosion. Go over there and read it all.

It seems to me that the biggest problem with these rumors is that it's really tough to construct a fair trade between the Hornets and any of Chris Paul's suitors. Whenever I see fans proposing trades, they're always hilariously lopsided. "Here, give us the best point guard in the game, who very well could become the best point guard in the history of basketball, and in return, we offer a bag of potato chips. What's that? Not enough? What if we make them BBQ flavor?"

I hope that the Hornets' minty fresh management team at least understands the immense value of Chris Paul and demands a reasonable amount in return.

Still, I'm not sold on the veracity of these rumors. Every source that At the Hive has spoken to about Chris Paul has said that Chris wants to stay in New Orleans. So what's the truth? I see four options:

First, is this gamesmanship? Is Chris Paul trying to goad George Shinn into going above the luxury tax? That doesn't make sense; almost all the decent free agents have already signed.

Second, is this for real? Does Chris Paul really want to leave? That's entirely possible, although the only sources I've seen for this come through the national sports media, which tends to be hilariously wrong about almost everything.

Third, is this all blown out of proportion? That's entirely possible, as well, but if so, why doesn't Chris Paul just come out and quash the rumors?

Finally, is this a strange marketing ploy by the business geniuses at LRMR? That seems really likely to me, but it could be part of a larger "strategy" by those marketing savants that might include Chris Paul going to a bigger market or a better team.

I'm not sure what the truth is, or even if these are the only four options. Put your thoughts, opinions, ridiculous Chris Paul trade ideas, or suicide notes in the comments. If you see any more crazy-bones stories out there, make sure to FanShot them so I can promote them to the front page.

p.s. please, no suicide notes. That would make me even sadder.

I Pick 3

I think CP3 might really be frustrated and maybe even said he wants out amongst friends as a joke or something or maybe even said like ‘If we do not win this season I might want out’ and one of said friends ran off and talked to some website and then all of this started.

I certainly hope it's 3

But if it is, then why hasn’t Chris Paul just tweeted, “Hey, I wanna stay in New Orleans.”

All he has said is “TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED…”

That’s really enigmatic, but it’s still a pretty awesome thing to say right now.

by Brian Ball on Jul 22, 2010 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Brian....

maybe because he thinks if he allow these rumors to continue, it will continue to light a fire under the Hornets FO. If he really wants to stay in NOLA he’ll eventually have to say it but right now perhaps he thinks by keeping this rolling, they’ll not let up in showing they are committed to winning. All of this is just perhaps though.

Generic Chris Paul headline

National media basketball analyst: “Chris Paul says ‘perfectly content’ in New Orleans. TRADE SPECULATION GROWS!!!!!”.

At this point, I don’t think anything short of Chris Paul putting pen to paper on a contract extension right now would disrupt the media consensus that its a matter of “when” not “if” Paul leaves. What none of these stories do is come up with some plausible trade scenario that might actually tempt the Hornets to part with their franchise player. “Why yes, we do want to swap our prized point guard for some magic beans. That sounds like a perfectly fair trade.”

But hey, if Orlando wants to trade us Dwight Howard to get Paul, well, maybe we’ll listen to their offer…

I’m not sure. All I know is it wasn’t hard to see the Hornets scouting department sucked. Everytime I hear their names I think about Hornets former GM Bob Bass. Are they Bob’s sons?

New GM Dell Demps is being welcomed to New Orleans now, meeting Hornets staff members in downtown offices.

What's Next Regarding "The Demand?"

Ridiculous. I’ve been very upset with Chris Paul all summer long, to the point where I was even forced to engage in squabbles with fellow fans of the team I truly love, and Paul does nothing but prove me one hundred percent right.

I’m not here to be pessimistic. But if this were all just rumors and speculation, Paul could easily swipe it away. He won’t because this isn’t just rumors and speculation. Paul is nothing more than a follower and just as much of a clown as LeBron is and I feel like an idiot for thinking he was different from everyone else the last five years.

Coming off of that 2004/2005 season, I really saw lots of losing seasons in the future for the Hornets. Paul changed that. Paul gave Hornets fans legitimate hope for a championship that we haven’t had in forever. For him to bail out on us, too, gives me no hope as a fan of a small market team in the NBA.

Admittedly

I’m coming around to your viewpoint as it’s impossible and silly to defend CP3 anymore.

However, I definitely don’t give up complete hope for small market teams. Just makes it seem like their windows are a lot smaller. Also, this definitely makes me respect players like Kevin Durant a ton more.

Let's Be Honest Though, Red

No one was arguing that we should trade Chris Paul in 2008. We were a team on the rise, Paul was “one of the league’s truly nice guys” and two years later he’s a conglomerate demanding a trade from the team. We never know character until it’s faced with adversity and we’ve seen how LeBron and CP3 handle it.

I’d like to say that Durant is different but I thought Paul was different.

If Durant's team...

wasn’t on the uprise he’d be doing the same thing. Don’t get it twisted. He’s happy right now so of course he’s not going to say anything like Chris is saying. But in 2 or 3 years if it looks like his team isn’t winning or making playoffs, I suspect he’d be doing the same thing.

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 3:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe

but you can’t deny how he has handled himself thus far.

He’s ALWAYS around the team (as evidenced by being in Vegas during summer league), always practicing and never ever causing a stink. Love how little fanfare there was when he announced he signed an extension.

Right now ...

my thinking is until I hear or read something directly from Chris Paul saying that he wants to be traded, I’m not going to be a sheep and follow others. Sure, he hasn’t squashed rumors but like I said above to you Brian Ball, he could be doing this to keep the fire under the Hornets. We know nothing yet

LMRM or whatever was a poor decision, we’re all in agreement. But I think it’s ridiculous to turn on Chris Paul before he’s literally not done a single thing. 99% of guys in this league will not make comments when they’re talked about in the media. It’s standard NBA practice.

CP’s coming off a bad season, coming off a GM and two coaches being fired, and is watching the rest of the NBA improve. In my mind, this really has very little to do with market size (from CP’s perspective at least). It has everything to do with the team getting better or at least showing a desire to get better.

The Stupid Thing Is

The Knicks have been players for free agency for so long that they don’t have any players to offer in trades for Paul and Carmelo. The entire idea is stupid. Maybe, MAYBE, they can get one of them but there’s no chance they’d get both. New Orleans and Denver will both be stubborn and request a lot and they should. They don’t owe it to Paul, Melo the city of New York or the league to give in to this. If everyone is looking out for themselves and their family, then the Hornets should do the same damn thing. It’s one thing for Paul to request a trade but for him to try and dictate who they trade him to is a damn sickening thing.

I guess all of us Hornets fans join Julius Hodge as people who Chris Paul has hit below the belt.

Don't write off the Knicks

As a Knick fan I can tell you that we naturally covet Paul but unlike the last ten years we have some attractive assets (Gallinari,Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph)this year that could make a trade feasible. Eddy Curry our 6’11" fat ass immobile center’s $11million contract comes off the books this year. If Carmello opts out of his extension you can bet the farm, or whatever it is you people bet down there, that he will be in New York next year. Taking Okifor and his $55 million back as part of a deal could be attractive to your management who have a reputation for frugality. I would hate to see the Knicks gut their new team to get any single player. Even one as transcendent as Paul cannot get the job done alone. In any case I hope Paul stays with you guys for a couple of more years and we Knicks pick him up when his contract expires. However, those dirtbags at LMRM are most assuredly the ones stirring this pot so you never really know, do you?

Those guys are crap compared to CP3.

Portland is offering crap, but certainly much better than those NY “backups on a good team” guys.

Same with Orlando and the Mavericks.

They can all offer better stuff to NO than pitiful New York can.

But it is all still crap compared to Chris Paul when he isn’t injured & pouting.

In Bayless I trust.

Trail Blazers trade offer

It was said during or right before the NBA draft this year that Portland made an offer for Chris Paul. Wonder if their discussions with the Hornets will heat back up.

The Blazers had offered 14 Million in expiring contracts between two players (Andre Miller & Joel Pryzbilla) in addition Blazers would send Nicolas Batum and Jerryd Bayless to the Hornets for Paul.

by GiftofGame on Jul 22, 2010 3:18 PM CDT reply actions

I have to think we shouldn't be after expirings

As much as people all think we should. Expirings are for people to sign free agents with, essentially. Without Paul, we have nothing to entice them with. They won’t come. Or we’ll have to overpay, which is how we got in this exact situation. This is a realistic view.

IMO we should only look at teams offering several solid young pieces, under contract.

http://hornetshype.com

by ticktock6 on Jul 22, 2010 3:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Blazers

Well in regards to the Blazers offer you’d get both. You’d get salary relief which I beleive the Hornets must have because they can’t add salary due to the potential new ownership. With the Blazers as trading partners you’d get the 14 million in expiring contracts plus Portland has a slew of young talent they could send to New Orleans such as: Batum, Bayless, Rudy Fernandez, Dante Cunningham etc…

I’m a Blazer fan so the thought of getting Chris Paul is obviously exciting. I dont think the Knicks have anything the Hornets would want and neither do the Magic. I think if its between the 4 teams meantioned (Mavs, Blazers, Magic, and Knicks) that only the Mavs and the Blazers have the goods to offer the Hornets.

by GiftofGame on Jul 22, 2010 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions

As a Trailblazer fan I would love to have Paul on the court with Roy-Oden and LaMarcus........

but I would hate to lose Nicolas Batum who I am sure Monty would demand because he worked with this kid and sees his potential as the closest thing to Scottie Pippen since Pippen was playing in Portland.

Out of all the teams that Paul has put on his list “WHO I WILL NOT BELIEVE UNTIL I HEAR IT COME FROM PAUL HIMSELF” Portland has the most to offer in expiring contracts and young talent. Whoever trades for Paul has to take Okafors contract as well but Paul Allen might be the richest owner in the league and does not mind throwing money around if he has a chance to compete for a title.

New York has Tony Douglas and maybe Galinari and maybe a 1st rd pick if they did not trade it to Phoenix for Amare. I don’t see NY taking Okafor’s contract to get Paul plus they do not have the younf talent that NO would want or the salary relief NO would demand.

The Lakers is complete BS, they signed Steve Blake to a 16 million $ contract to back up Fish.

Would the Hornets be willing to take Jameer Nelson for Paul……..there is no way in hell that happens plus they don’t have the room to take on Okafor’s contract as well.

If the Hornets and Blazers make a trade, you can look for your new HC to try and pick Portlands young talent and bring it down to the NO. Bayless would be a good fit for the Hornets, he could back up both Collison and Thornton and Batum is young and talented and will be an All-Star maybe this coming season. Alot of NBA teams have tried to trade for Batum and been turned away. This trade could work for both teams and makes alot of sense…………..with that said it will not happen because of this group that Paul has signed his career over to. They are pretty much trying to dictate where the FA superstars are going to sign and bullying the managment into their terms.

Haha but the lakers are getting the best point guard in the league

And we’re getting Andrew Bynum. Probably makes more sense for us to ship the lakers Posey instead and just leave Walton out of the equation.

More interestingly, what function would Chris Paul have in the triangle offense? Wouldn’t that be just a terrible fit for him?

Pauls talented enough to play in any system but...

It would be a waste of his full potential to put him in the triangle. I’d also have to hate him and I don’t want to do that

by tafkasam on Jul 22, 2010 4:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Dang the Lakers don't have many players under contract at all

Kinda makes a trade hard and technically leaves Lakers without a Center unless they can take Okafor.

What about Okafor and Collison for Bynum? If I’m lakers I’d think seriously about it. Bynum has higher upside. Okafor is a rock in terms of health and does exactly what they need (rebound and block shots). They don’t need another post scorer.

by tafkasam on Jul 22, 2010 5:00 PM CDT up reply actions

At this point they are thinking about now, not the future

Kobe is 32, Gasol is turning 30, Odom, Artest are 30/31. They got a 3 year window to continue winning.

No one would deny Bynum in terms of upside has most of the trio. But his health is such a risk, that getting perhaps a less talented more reliable (For there needs) big AND a PG who would fit there system perfectly (open threes all day, doesn’t NEED the ball like say CP3 would demand it)

That makes perfect sense. If he wants to tank I hope they keep him for two full years. At least Baron Davis was an ass because that’s who he is, I can live with that. But what an absurd attitude for an alleged professional and good person.

CP3 has no choice where he gets traded, right? If he really wants to leave, then this is the deal that needs to be done.

It makes us a better team PLUS it pisses him off.

Nothing has happened yet

All this hate and knocking his character when nothing has happened yet! I like Chris Paul, I think he truly loves New Orleans. Hopefully he is just trying to light a fire under new management to make some moves. It is working..IMO

And I disagree that this is making him look bad. Players pull this kind of stuff all the time to get what they want. Nothing wrong with that..just hope that what he wants is to stay in NO!

Pretty much...

what my thoughts are auburner. A lot of people are reading other forums and becoming SHEEP right now before they’ve even heard from Chris Paul. Trade with Portland

A trade with Portland can be very beneficial to the Hornets, especially now that Chris Paul REALLY wants out of New Orleans. Portland has the most young talent in the NBA pretty much (OKC is a close 2). I checked the numbers and this trade would work.
Portland gets: Chris Paul and James Posey
Hornets get: Rudy Fernandez, Andre Miller, and Marcus Camby
This would give the Hornets some rebounding and blocks and get rid of Posey. Andre Miller would also be a badass backup PG.
Let me know what you think

by Nola4Ever on Jul 22, 2010 4:07 PM CDT reply actions

I'd like to hear Paul say...

he REALLY wants out of NOLA. Why can’t this be done?

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 4:08 PM CDT up reply actions

You seriously think he could stay?

He signed with LeBrons management for one reason and one reason only. He wants out of New Orleans and they are apparently the management to do that.

by Nola4Ever on Jul 22, 2010 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Well why won't he...

just come out and say he wants to be traded? Kobe did it. He didn’t need anyone to say it for him. If CP3 is the star that everyone thinks he is, he has a voice that people would like to hear.

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 4:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Its pretty simple actually...

1) He would get fined by the NBA
2) That is not how his new management works. They work in secrecy behind closed doors using the media as their weapons for their respective clients. If you weren’t living under a rock the past few months you would have seen the same thing with LeBron James.

by Nola4Ever on Jul 22, 2010 4:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Kobe got fined?

I don’t remember. If he wants out that badly let him say it. LRMRLOL probably won’t have any problems paying the fine for him.

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 4:40 PM CDT up reply actions

This proposal is a joke

In essence, you’re getting the best PG who will be around for years and you’re ONLY taking Posey (instead of Okafor)

In return, we get old Miller – no need for him we have DC. He’s old and argumentative if he’s not starting. Camby – still older and has to be on his last legs. Fernandez a question mark NBA player still.

Need a fantasy fix? Come visit http://www.fantasycafe.com/ for all your basketball, baseball and football needs!

by RedHopeful on Jul 22, 2010 4:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Well we still need a center to have a somewhat decent squad

Thats why we get rid of Posey. Andre Miller had a great season last year and would be an amazing backup PG/ great veteran influence on DC. Fernandez has the potential to be a beast in a new system. Do I have to say anything about Camby? He’s always a defensive player of the year nominee and could get some rest with Okafor on the squad still. So age wouldn’t play too much of a factor for andre miller or marcus camby.

by Nola4Ever on Jul 22, 2010 4:37 PM CDT up reply actions

the lakers could offer the best of any other team in my opinion. but i don’t think they are a candidate to trade.

they could get andrew bynum who is on the verge of becoming the best (and true) center in the nba. and still only 23 years old. they could also offer both their rookes: ebanks and caracter, both of whom are being praised as second round steals, and/or 2 future first round picks.

Yeah

The basic problem is this: the Knicks are under the cap, so they can’t go over the tax. That means we can only send them CP3, we can’t ship them Emeka or Posey.

And if we just send them CP3, they have nothing but shitty players, so they’d have to send us four shitty expiring contracts and a bunch of draft picks. It would pretty much be the Hornets blowing up their team and starting over again.

by Brian Ball on Jul 22, 2010 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions

by Rohan on Jul 22, 2010 4:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Haha, no, my bad. That was stupid.

Should have said we’d have to take an obscene number of shitty players.

Since the Knicks only have one player under a big contract, we’d have to take a ton of terrible players were we to send them Okafor. I think we’d have to take a minimum of 5 players.

With Posey, it’d only be two players.

Outside perspective

I can’t blame CP3 for being frustrated as the state of the hornets is a worse version of Cleveland. you get a bonafide superstar and simply does not have pieces around him.

On the flipside, I absolutely do not want him to leave or form a super team as it’s just disgusting.

I have a question for you Hornets fans. Any chance New Orleans gets there act together, turns Peja’s MONSTER expiring (plus perhaps Collison) into some talent from a team looking to rebuild? Maybe Indiana gives you Granger + something? (first example off top of my head)

See? That's what I'm talking about...

people want other teams to give up their star players but want to be able to keep theirs.

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Exactly

It just isn’t gonna happen like that. Front offices in this league aren’t cupcakes anymore. They’re going to play hardball and not just take all your crappy players in a salary dump, they’re looking to improve too.

with Demps as GM. He’s come from a team that knows how to work AND win.

If the Trail Blazers fail to get Chris Paul because of Greg Oden...

I will probably laugh myself to death. That is the funniest thing ever.

Personally...

Im not big on ANY deal, no matter how much we get in return… until its shown that CP is actually demanding a trade and that the Hornets will actually consider giving it to him, this is all moot to me.

I agree...

you know people looooooove playing armchair GM though.

And that’s cool. But from a personal perspective, I considered all proposed CP trades ridiculous before, and will continue to for the time being.

Why would Philly sign that deal? They get both Posey and Okafur and no CP3.

In a trade with the Magic.

Would NO be able to trade Jameer this season before the trade deadline if they got him. They could get value back from him. He would be a good trade asset.

Jameer

I keep hearing that Hornet fans keep saying that they have Darren Collisen and don’t need Jameer. If Magic do trade with NO, then why can’t NO trade Jameer before the trade deadline? I am sure that they can find a team that could use a starting point guard. He would be a valuable asset to them, and they might be able to get a better value for him being right before the trade deadline. Some teams are bound to have injuries, or they are missing a quality point guard to get them that over the hump.

by troybiles on Jul 22, 2010 8:12 PM CDT reply actions

I think at the end of the day..

The front office is really the ones who have to do the work to not only create a winner but keep CP3 excited about New Orleans prospects.. I’m really hoping that Monty’s kindness and professionalism gets through to Chris. I am hoping that Demps’ vision and assertivness creates an opportunity to create a contender. I know we can get a superstar over the next year (with these expirings), it’s just whether Chris knows it or not.

Everyone has reached the conclusion that CP3 is leaving. You know, he may, but he hasn’t given the Hornets any chance to bring in top level talent. Lebron gave the Cavs several years to bring in talent and they couldn’t, why can’t Chris do that?

If I was to say something to Chris right now it would be this, “Don’t listen to Lebron, don’t listen to your groupies, listen to yourself, give New Orleans a chance to make something, you owe it to the franchise that drafted you, don’t pull a Lebron and leave the team high and dry.”

The front office has all the chips. I am hoping that they keep these chips (Chris Paul) and don’t let anyone else touch them.

So Grayson or anyone else...

that may know the answer. When Chris said at his golf tourney that he would be open to a trade if the appeared the Hornets weren’t committed to winning, did he say a huge move had to be made in 10 days or something? It starts with the front office and we are in the midst of changing the front office. The front office are the ones to put things in place. They are getting in place so they will be able to do more. I’m just wondering if he gave them a time frame of 1 wk, 2 wks. ???

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 8:36 PM CDT up reply actions

No

But I think the tone of his voice suggested he wanted something done in THIS free agency. I don’t know if Paul realises though that we didn’t have much cap-space at the time. If the guy would be a little more patient (for a year) then we could go after Melo.

Collison and Peja for like Granger and a back-up PG.

Maybe that wouldn’t satisfy CP, but at this point not much will.

The only point guard to get traded would be CP3. DC MUST stay here because if Chris stays for the short term and we don’t win a championship in two years he’s gone for sure.

Brian Ball...

as figured, the Basses are indeed sons of former Hornet GM Bob Bass.

Kip and Kelly Bass are the sons of former Hornets executive vice president of basketball operations and general manager Bob Bass, who retired after the 2003-04 season. Kip and Kelly worked in the Hornets’ scouting department when the franchise was located in Charlotte, N.C.

I’m pretty sure we should know everything by Monday. Heck we may even know before Monday if he decides to come out and say something earlier. But either way, I think by Monday we’ll know whatever we need to know.

by QueenBee on Jul 22, 2010 11:50 PM CDT up reply actions

If i was the Hornets, I'd trade him.

You guys have a great PG behind Paul, Darren Collison is future superstar, I think he’ll be an all-star for a long time, he has 20+/10+ ability, and most importantly he has the talent to be the franchise cornerstone. Last season, Collison averaged 19 and 9 in the games he started. Those are great numbers for anybody, let alone a rookie. And yes, it’s a smaller sample size but he did put up better numbers than Paul did in his rookie year.

And the other part of the equation is Paul himself. People have to remember this is not a sign and trade situation, and he does not have a no trade clause. So his “list” with those contending teams is meaningless, he can be traded to the Clippers or Toronto or Minnesota or wherever else the Hornets choose. He should be traded to a team that can offer the best complimentary pieces to put around Collison and at the same time the franchise can offload a bad contract along with Paul.

In some ways the Hornets find themselves in the same position as the Cavs. Some roster mistakes during your best players early years means you can’t go all the way in the near future and now it looks like that star wants to go. But unlike the Cavs, you guys have Paul under contract so you can trade him wherever you like, and also unlike the Cavs you guys have another young guy with the ability to take over the team and lead it all the way one day.

Um

Darren Collison, rookie: 16.5 PER, 3.0 FTA/36, 32.9% AST, 18.9% TOV, 105 ORtg
Chris Paul, rookie: 22.1 PER, 6.0 FTA/36, 38.2% AST, 13.7% TOV, 114 ORtg

They’re pretty much playing different sports.

by Rohan on Jul 23, 2010 12:31 AM CDT up reply actions

People look at...

Collison’s numbers and think he is Chris Paul. The Hornets went 14-23 in 37 games with Collison as a starter. Collison had a nice rookie season but if anyone looks at his numbers and think he can do for the Hornets what Chris Paul did, then they just don’t know what they are talking about. Just about everyone that isn’t a Hornets fan comes running in here talking about how the Hornets should trade Chris Paul. It’s not only the media that wants Paul out of NOLA. Not by a long shot.

by QueenBee on Jul 23, 2010 12:58 AM CDT up reply actions

Of course Paul was a whole lot more efficient as a rookie. He came into the league as a much more polished player. There is a reason he was drafted 4th and Collison was drafted 21st. I just think Collison proved in his time as a starter that in the long term he can be a special player.

I’m not telling you what is good for you. I was just giving my opinion. I wasn’t trying to be smug, I apologize if it came across that way. Haha

‘Salright. But I think Paul is in a whole different level to Collison. Paul is a top 5 player, Collison a solid starter. Collison I think has very small potential, like his ceiling is quite low. Paul’s fiestyness and overall play is on a hall-of-fame level.
