Collison for Ariza...Good or bad?
So, apparently, the Hornets have acquired Trevor Ariza from the Rockets in a four team trade. In this trade, the Hornets sent Darren Collison and James Posey to the Pacers. I was kind of hoping we could keep Collison based on the Chris Paul uncertainty. What I mean to say is, I was hoping we could keep Collison in case Chris Paul continually demands for a trade or leaves via free agency in two years. I'm not sure if getting Ariza was good enough to trade Collison, however, I am assuming that trading Posey and Collison will open up a little more wiggle room under the luxury tax.
Let me know what you guys think. Was this a good deal or a bad one?

I think
It was a good move we get a good sf that can run with paul plays def and can shoot off the pass… not to mention this helps our luxary tax and give us even more money to play with. Oh yeah and we get a good sf who is still young and locked down for pretty cheap for the next few years
We also
Got Bellineli from the Raptors for Julian Wright. To me this sets up the hornets perfectly. Now we just need a backup point guard and we’ll be fine. To me this should say to Paul that were moving in the right direction.

As mentioned earlier
in other threads. GOOD! :)

After seeing LBJ's absolute destruction of the Cleveland fanbase I am scared to think what will happen in 2 years...
The Cavaliers kept trading young assets for heavily paid veterans over and over in an effort to make James happy… well, now that James left the Cavaliers have terrible contracts that they cant get rid of and only a single good young player (Hickson).
I like how the Hornets are trying to keep CP3 happy but I just see the same pattern of trades that resulted in LBJ leaving Cleveland…
How is this?
Ariza is 25 Belinelli is 24, so how are we trading our young players for veterans? We got rid of Posey who averaged his worst PPG since his rookie year, in return we get the 25 year old version of James Posey in Ariza. I don’t see how were bringing on old players by any means.

I just wish we could’ve gottten Tyler Hansbrough along with Ariza.

Great trade. Getting value for value and unloading an aging and in our system useless player in Posey was just great. The two worst contracts are gone. Peja still can contribute and is expiring and Okafor is a decent center and looking at the league not really overpaid. I like that Collison gets his own team. He derserves it.
Getting Ariza and Bellinelli shows the difference between Bower and Demps. Bower wanted and signed an older Luther Head without getting rid of any of the dead weight the Hornets had. Getting Bellinelli for JuJu is great and we still have another two guard. Thats how free agency should work.
Bower could draft and work the draft (see this years draft deal and DC and Marcus last year), but he wasnt good in free agency. Demps made great first trades (at least on paper). I hope he continues on this path.
Had we kept DC, we had sayed to Chris: Allright, you are stil here, but we dont trust you and what you are saying to us – hence we need an insurance and replacement. DC would not have been a great trade chip during the season if Paul stays healthy (what one has o assume).
Ariza for Collison? NO!! Paul for Granger?
Collison is our third best player and all we got was an overrated bomber who can’t shoot? Ariza better defend. We needed to keep Collison for the inevitable CP3 trade. Book it people it will happen before his contract is up. We should have pulled the trigger NOW. Who’s going to play the point when the brittle CP3 breaks down yet again this year? Would the Pacers have taken Paul for Granger?

Some ppl here have to realize that any move the Bees were going to pull to IMPROVE would involve shipping out DC. Ariza is in a better spot to succeed, he doesn’t have to average 20 PPG like the Rockets were asking him to do pre-Kevin Martin last season. But he has stick to what he’s good at. With Bellinelli, The Hornets couldn’t ask for much better for cursing a team with Juju. Marco could possibly start, & have Thornton be the 6th man which is probably the best role for MT for the team. It also keeps the team from thrusting Pondexter in there, who may not be ready to play.
