Hornets A-Z. B: Craig Brackins
My "B" article is about the 21st overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft
Craig Brackins
We were all mystified when the Hornets picked Craig Brackins 21st overall in the 2010 NBA Draft. Number 21! Are you kidding me??? A Power Forward from an unranked team who averaged only 16.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds a contest. At the 21st pick! Fire the General Manager!!! Fire the Owner!!! Fire the scouts!!! There were players like Damion James, Jordan Crawford, and Greivis Vasquez still on the board! But the stats don't do Brackins justice. This is a guy who was facing double, and even triple teams every posession, every night. The season before he averaged 20.2 ppg and 9.5 rpg.
He was a top recruit out of high school, and after his sophomore season at Iowa State University was a projected 1st round pick in the draft. But the double teams came, and his draft stock fell. But this guy can play, put the ball in the bucket, and get in the highlight reel once in a while.
Which is why the Hornets took a flyer on him at 21st overall.
"B" is for Craig Brackins.
