Are We In Good Hands?

News is out that Carmelo Anthony had a representative tell Michael Jordan he's not interested in playing for him or our his franchise, something that I've suspected for a very long time. Although I'm not really furious at Melo for the public "no" (we're just one of about 28 teams that would get a "no"), it does leave me wondering exactly what Jordan's plans are, and if we're in good hands.

Anyone knows me knows I am a light at the end of the tunnel kind of guy. If I'm clearly on one side of the fence on something, then I'm going to make the most of it and pick out all of the positives, despite the overly abundant amount of negative that comes with being on that side. I've always felt like an underdog in life, and I think that's the primary reason (other than the fact I'm from NorthI root for the Cats. When Jordan came on board in the beginning, I thought that his name was the most credible thing that could happen to the organization (it was) and that it would lead to a major change in Charlotte. Then, for years, I watched as Jordan almost acted like he wasn't a part of the organization at all, spending more time on the golf course then around the team. It sickened me Mike treated the Bobcats like the fat little brother  big brother never wanted to bring around, but because Jordan was a Bobcat now, I still defended his every move, trying to make his logic my own. Kwame was terrible? Well damn, who else was supposed to go number 1 that year? Adam Morrison was a wasted pick? C'mon, he was supposed to be the next Larry Bird. Raymond Felton is playing at an All-Star level now? The man was asking for too much from us. Tyson Chandler has rejuvenated the Mavs? So, he costs 13 million. We're willing to trade for Carmelo with no guarantee of an extension? Well, Carmelo is a....wait..........what?

Thank GOD for Carmelo Anthony putting it out there for the world to hear that he doesn't want to play for us. I don't know exactly how the hell two "friends" like Melo and Mike can't have that conversation over the phone, but apparently they didn't, and it took Melo giving M.J. a public no now to protect hurt feelings later. I actually have a little bit more respect for Melo now that he has said that he's not interested in coming to us. Of the teams willing to make that gamble with no extension, we were really the team that just didn't belong in the conversation in the first place. Melo saying no to playing for Mike is the equivalent of Melo saying no to Mike for a game of 21 now, let's just not do this, it may get embarrassing.

Which leads me to believe that Mike either A. Doesn't know or B. Doesn't care, what he's doing. Mike seemed to really think that because he was "Air Jordan", that Melo would come play for him. And even without an extension, he was willing to, I'm pretty sure at least, throw everything we had at the Nuggets for him. Now again, I'm just assuming, but that includes Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw, D.J. Augustin, draft picks, Gerald Henderson, his gran eyed granny, and leftovers from the playoff game. All for Melo?

Michael Jordan's plan, in my eyes, has become perfectly clear. He is really trying to construct a team Jordan in Charlotte. But in reality, if his goals aren't achieved, he's doing his best to cut costs, while at the same time, expecting his team to remain competitive. Maybe I'm just reading too much into rumors, but I'm not hearing that Jordan is only interested in deals that are going to save us money. For what? We're not going to be in position to do anything after the new CBA anyway with free agents. I'm sorry, but right now, it seems like Jordan is expecting greatness from everyone because he was great himself. I'm starting to think that Jordan as an owner is the same as Jordan as a coach, it just wouldn't work. Hopefully I'm worried over nothing and Jordan has a real plan, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing that right now.
