Our New Shooting Guard, Very Briefly
NBA players 22 or younger with Usage% > 25%, with offensive efficiency (points produced/100 possessions used) and relevant season in parentheses. If players did it multiple times before age 22, the best offensive efficiency year is listed:
Chris Paul (125 in 2008 @ age 22)
Amar'e Stoudemire (121 in 2005 @ age 22)
Shaquille O'Neal (120 in 1994 @ age 21)
Chris Bosh (118 in 2006 @ age 21)
Kevin Durant (118 in 2010 @ age 21)
Michael Jordan (118 in 1985 @ age 21)
LeBron James (115 in 2006 @ age 21)
Terry Cummings (113 in 1983 @ age 21)
Derrick Rose (113 in 2011 @ age 22)
Kobe Bryant (112 in 2001 @ age 22)
Eric Gordon (112 in 2011 @ age 22)
Blake Griffin (111 in 2011 @ age 22)
That's it. That's the entire list in the three point era of guys at Gordon's efficiency and usage, by his age. Blake Griffin's phenomenal rookie year is tossed in for fun. Chris Paul is atop the list - his 2007-2008 is arguably the greatest season by a 22 year old ever.
Is this a cherrypicked stat? To an extent, yeah. But Gordon's 2010-2011 puts him in some very good company, any way you slice it. Every single one of those guys was, is, or will be a multiple-time All-Star; if Gordon can keep up the pace over a "full" season this year, he could well join them.
So that's our new shooting guard. This is also him:

Happy to have him
but I’m irked by the media yet again as they’ve already made the point he’s gone in a few years.
That's because a lot of the media would like to be gone
..in a few years.

You will love EJ (Eric Gordon Jr.)
While Griffin was the most exciting player on the team, EJ was the 4th quarter go to guy for the Clippers. He is quiet, shy and will not give the best interviews but he will soon become one of your favorite players. Given your current roster, he may also average around 25 ppg for you but is not a shoot first ballhog like a Monta Ellis. Here is your potential challenge as EJ is a RFA this summer and initial talks for extension with the Clippers was a sky high number (see below).

You’re getting a terrific SG, New Orleans. Gordon’s a Hoosier, which means he knows how to play basketball the right way. Very determined but very quiet. Don’t mistake his shyness for lack of interest; he plays hard and is extremely competitive.
Interesting
The geek in me needs to confirm that the draft pick in CP3’s trade holds the longest span from being traded (‘05) to being executed (’12).
Good luck to u to
Chris Paul pays tribute to New Orleans via Twitter: “THANK YOU NEW ORLEANS for 6 of the BEST years of my life.”
How classy that Drew Bress picked EJ up at the airport
to welcome him to the city. Both have Indiana roots with Brees playing at Purdue.
"I gotta have more cowbell!"
I don’t think that’s true although it’s something I could see Brees doing. Just a rumor. Demps said Gordon would arrive in NO tomorrow.
I love Gordon
From my days back at IU. He’s a quiet leader and brings strength and athleticism to the team. He can score at will and has excellent instincts. He reminds me of Derrick Rose, if Rose was more of a bulldog. I’m just hoping we can find some way steal him away to my Pacers…
I have been a HUGE fan of EJ since he was a junior at North Central HS.
Eric Gordon has the talent to be the best shooting guard in the NBA in the next 2-3 seasons. he is already a top 5 shooting guard with his play last season.
I am looking forward to watching him play on the Hornets.
EJ's
For real guys, you got a special talent on your hands in EJ. He’s got the talent to be the in the top 3 SGs in the next year or two. Man, its hurts to see him go
Life-long Clipper fan
im in the minority in Los Angeles. EJ is everything i look for in a basketball player to root for – aggressive, team-oriented, strong work ethic, and he’s INCREDIBLY humble. i was and still am upset over the trade and would take back EJ in a HEARTBEAT. he is and is gonna continue to be a stud in this league.
not to mention, kaman – he’s my favorite clipper of all time. a bit clumsy when he thinks too much in the paint, but he’s a solid producer. one of the BEST personalities in the league. new orleans is gonna love him (i used to live there). too bad he most likely leaves at the end of the season, but who knows.
yall are officially my 2nd favorite team now. clippers lite. go hornets!
