Eric Gordon Out Tonight

The Times-Pic reports a bruised right knee for Eric Gordon, and the Hornets will hold him out of the game because of it. Gordon apparently bumped his knee against Grant Hill late in the fourth quarter.

Marco Belinelli will start alongside Jarrett Jack in the backcourt.

Subplots

Boston lost a heartbreaker to Miami yesterday. After trailing by as many as 30 in the second half, the Celtics somehow pulled to within three before HEAT rookie Norris Cole shot his team to safety.
Expect to see a good bit of the Emeka Okafor/Chris Kaman duo; the Hornets' height and work down low could definitely give the undersized Boston front court (Garnett, O'Neal, Bass) some trouble.
Home opener!
Obviously quite a bit of drama involving these two teams over the summer; Chris Paul was highly coveted by the Celtics, but the Hornets wanted no part of Rajon Rondo (or, more accurately, a package headlined by Rajon Rondo), and a David West sign-and-trade with Boston also fell through. Had that deal happened, this would have been West's NOLA return; now that he's on Indiana, he will not play in New Orleans until the 2012-2013 season (unless the Hornets play the Pacers in the Finals!)

Excited For Tonight

Unfortunate that Gordon won’t be playing. The Hornets are already at a disadvantage but having him out is just going to make it tougher. All that said, I still have a sour taste in my mouth from the last time the Celtics were in town; when the calls went against New Orleans for the whole game and they blew that big lead. That was all compounded by there being a HUGE amount of Celtics fans there. Hope to see better support for the home opener tonight. And even without Gordon, I want to see a good effort by the Hornets. Without Pierce and on the second night of a back to back is the best chance to catch them.
