Hornets Offseason in NBA 2K11

I've decided to put on my GM hat and guide the Hornets through the offseason.  As I started Hornets Association on my Xbox 360, I had two plans.  To save money and to make the team deeper.  I think I did both.

Player Re-Signing:  I re-signed Patrick Ewing Jr.  I also had a pleasant suprise as David West picked up his player option.  Landry decided not to re-sign with us and I opted to let Willie, Marcus Banks, David Anderson, Mbenga, Jason Smith, and Aaron Gray walk.  Marco left as a restricted free agent.

The Draft:  The Hornets ended up with the 20th pick in the 1st round.  I forgot that we traded it for Bayless, and up popped a trade from the Pistons.  They were offering the 3rd pick and Rip Hamilton for Quincy, Emeka and the 20th pick.  It sheds Okafor's hefty salary, we get a starting caliber Shooting Guard, and I remembered Enes Kanter was still on the board.  I picked up the big man from Turkey.  Next, I sent Ariza to Phoenix for the 21st pick and Josh Childress.  Tyler Honeycutt from UCLA was still there, so I drafted him to groom as a future starting small forward, while Childress could start right away.  My dealing wasn't done yet.  I traded J-Jack and our 2nd round pick to Toronto for the 1st pick of the 2nd round and Sonny Weems.  The newest Hornet was Lucas Nogueira, the center from Brazil.  That was the end of the draft for me, with money saved and young players picked.

Free Agency:  In free agency I signed Arron Afflalo, Leon Powe, and Delonte West to fill up Jarret Jack's old backup slot.  Afflalo was signed for defense off the bench, Powe was another big body at power forward.

That's the end of my offseason, here's the roster:

PG: Chris Paul, Delonte West

SG: Richard Hamilton, Arron Afflalo

SF: Josh Childress, Tyler Honeycutt, Sonny Weems, Patrick Ewing

PF: David West, Leon Powe

C:  Enes Kanter, Lucas Nogueira

The season went terriblely.  The Hornets finished 24-58.  CP3 declined his player option, but luckily I was able to bring him back with a 6 year deal.  David West also re-signed, so happier times must be on their way to New Orleans.

Lol

If we win 24 games I’ll encourage CP to go… I’m not even joking.

So would I.

Now as I look back at the roster I’m noticing how little depth at the big man I have. Demps would never be as dumb as I am.

I did something similar to this back in NBA Live 2006....

I traded for Tyson Chandler and Peja….Funny thing is that not long after both ended up playing on the Hornets that same season….Then I kinda moved on to other games but came back and started a new season only this time the new player was Emeka Okafur via fantasy draft and the Hornets traded for him that same year! The Final one happened just last year when I picked up the controllers and popped in my Live06 and picked up Trevor Ariza not long after he was a Hornet…..Heck even my wife did it with the Atlanta Hawks as she brought in Joe Johnson from the Suns and the exact thing happened that same offseason! Im thinkin about poppin it in again just wondering who I shuld try an add see if it comes true again…..I did make other moves on the game but those are the only key players that came to the Hornets the respective year I had played the game lol….

I started the Association late.

Basically had the end of the year roster to start the season.

Miami wanted Gray and Ariza so I got back Pietrus and Mike Miller and sent Belinelli to the Suns. This allowed me to spread the floor for CP3 by having two excellent 3-point shooters.

I later traded West and Banks to Sacramento for Dalembert and made Landry the full-time starter.

Then the Knicks wanted Jack so I arranged a couple of more deals and ended up getting a healthy Azebuike and earl boykins. Basically I have tons of cap room next year and I’m first in the West.
