Bold Move to keep CP3
Trades are a depressing subject because of the potential of CP3 leaving town via trade. So let's talk bold free agent moves.
1. Throw the world at NeNe, I think he'd put up 20 and 10 with the Hornets.
2. Throw the rest of the world at Andrei Kirilinko (AK47) and Caron Butler
3. Move Okafor to the 4, bench Ariza and Belinelli
4. Resign Carl Landry, Jason Smith and Willie Green
With these moves you get a new 5 of:
- CP3
- Butler
- AK47
- Okafor
- NeNe
Bench would consist of:
- Carl Landry (Hopefully 5mil gets it done)
- Ariza
- J Jack
- Belli (no one will match the $3 mil qualifier)
- Jason Smith (offer him about 2mil)
- DJ Mbenga (plays good d for the minimum)
- QPon
- Willie Green (vet minimum)
- P Ewing Jr. (minimum)
- rookie fa or D league player
I like these moves because:
Ariza would still get minutes because Kirilinko can also play the 4.
Okafor/NeNe would make the Hornets more physical than ever.
Matchup flexibility would be maximized because Butler, Ak47, Okafor can play multiple positions

I like the idea of going after Nene
but would pass on AK and Butler – both older and significant injury risks. People get way too down on Ariza but he’s more than adequate as long as he’s not asked to go beyond his capabilities. 4th scorer on a team – THAT’S IT!
+1
Yeah I feel the same way. Nene would even be great if he didn’t want crazy money. But he does, the Hornets don’t even have an owner. They really can’t afford to go after Nene. Kirilenko… ehhhhh. He hasn’t been the same player in a few years. Butler…. nooooo. Always hurt, bad fit for the team.
