Around SBN: FSU To Big 12 'Inevitable,' According To Report

Hey Hornets fans... Are you also Michael Beasley fans??? Would you be , if he played for you?

I am a Minnesota Timberwolves fan. Both us Minnesota fans and you New Orleans fans are on the verge of having great home teams to cheer for. However, both of our teams have some minor issues. I have a solution to propose. I would like your feedback.

Center Position: Minnesota: Darko Milicic, Solid scorer; He scored a point and a half less per game than Okafor last season in seven and a half less minutes. He is a better passer than Okafor, with a better assist average. He also averaged more blocks per game in less minutes than Okafor. The problem for us, is that he is a low block/ high block, run your offense through him type center. We have Kevin Love to do that. We need a go get it on alley-oops, finish at the rim center. Which is what Okafor is.

New Orleans: You have 27 million dollars wrapped up in two starter-level players at the center position. Which is forcing your team to have sub-par bench players.

Small Forward: Minnesota: We have two starters at that position. We are absolutely going to keep Derrick Williams. Which means Beasley is the starter to go.

New Orleans: You are getting back-up play at this position. Trevor Ariza is a solid player, but he does not produce starters numbers.

Shooting Guard: Minnesota: Wesley Johnson and Wayne Ellington will both be good eventually. But they are both adjusting to the NBA game slower than expected. We need more production in that area.

New Orleans: Once again, you have a log jam at this position. Gordon, Belinelli and now Xavier Henry, who is also a very solid player. I know that noone in New Orleans wants Gordon to go anywhere. Belinelli is slumping, but his numbers are still better than what we are getting at that position.

Point Guard: Minnesota: We have the log jam at this position with Rubio, Barea, Ridnour, and Malcolm Lee.

New Orleans: Jarrett Jack is great. However, Vasquez is still a work in progress. He is promising. But he should be third string right now. Who is Carldell Johnson? Has he even earned a roster spot. I don't think so. But, with 27 Million wrapped up at center, it's the best you can afford right now.

I propose we make a trade that will solve all of this.

We give your team Darko Milicic to back up Chris Kaman, which saves you 9 million per year.

We give you Michael Beasley, which improves your starting production at the small forward position, and you still have Ariza to back him up.

We give you Luke Ridnour to back up Jack and push Vasquez to third string and Carldell back to bagging groceries.

We get Okafor, giving us our athletic center who can score at the rim.

We get Belinelli, giving us our scoring, at the 2 spot, that we need until our youngsters get their game right.

If you like you can even send us another salary eatting, non producing player (Aminu), so that you can free up more salary. We can still Amnesty a player.

Your Team would look like.... Kaman, Landry, Beasley, Gordon and Jack followed by Darko, Smith, Ariza, Xavier Henry, Luke Ridnour. With Ayon, Summers, Trey Johnson and Vasquez on the bench. Not too shabby.

What do you say Hive? Would you do it?

Squeaky, is how clean his uniform stays.

He’s given the team 6 minutes for 1 point, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Doesn’t seem like the coach loves him. Why have guys on your team that won’t be playing?

No way

I don’t think Michael Beasley’s a good player.

Exists only within the framework of himself – shoots a lot, never sets up teammates, and.. shoots a lot. And his efficiencies are way, way too poor for him to be allowed so many shots. From league average, his ORtg the last three years has been -4, -6, and -7. Let’s just ignore his -19 this year for the small sample and assume he’ll round into -6 form by the end of the season, heh

AND his deal ends this year meaning stupid teams that overvalue scoring will likely bid on him… and the Hornets will end up overpaying for a bad player if they want to keep him.

Basically, I don’t do this trade just on the fact that we’re getting Michael Beasley. His acquisition screws up a ton of stuff in terms of rebuilding itself and Darko’s long-term deal (due about a third to a half of what Oak is due, over the same number of years) is bad enough to not make dropping the Oak deal worth it. Plus, if we get an owner (which is a necessity for the Hornets to even be a viable long term survivor), Oak is immediately the first amnesty candidate anyway.

Okafor

While a likely amnesty candidate, would only have two years left on his contract by then. He’d be invaluable as an expiring when that time comes. Plus, he’s not a bad player. His contract sucks, but he’s a top ten center in the league. He’s just someone whose talents are better suited to a really good team.

+1000%

Beasley is an example of statistics not telling the whole story. I would take him on only if it meant getting another key player(s). Then, release him as soon as practical. Catch what Kevin Love said the other night, that the ball movement was much better (without Beasley in the lineup). Then, he said he was just kidding.

plus

Beasley is the reason MIN is not winning right now. Why would we want to give you that luxury! :))

Okafor

Not really the ally-oop type. He’s more of a power lay-up kind of guy. And Id never trade him for what’s offered here.

The Trade

If we part with Okafor, i think they would like more salary relief. bringing back beasley and darko and Ridnour? both darko and ridnour are signed through 2014. same year meke comes off the books.
but i really liked the trade until i found that out. If ridnours contract was up at the end of the year, I would definitely do it.
Or if you take Arizas contract as well, but im not sure the salaries match, so i dont think theres any possibilities of a match here.
1 more thing, we are rooting for you guys to lose as much as you can, I think this trade makes you a better team, and we wouldnt want to do that.

AHAH! I laughed out loud at this trade

I’m a Wolves fan. Wes and Ellington will eventually be good players? At what sport? So many things about the “facts” are quite incorrect here. Neither team does it, really. But definitely not the Hornets.

Lol

wtf why would the wolves trade Beasley? Wolves fans need to stop proposing these trades and just wait for talent and chemistry to develop. And btw Ellington is a very good player for us if you havent caught a lot of wolves games this season. He fits in well, and wes is… well wes. But a positive to take away from Wes is that he has shown more and more flashes as the season has gone on, and actually has stretches where he doesnt look completely lost…
