Eric Gordon Out, Trevor Ariza Out, Jason Smith Out
Eric Gordon and Trevor Ariza are both expected to miss at least the next two weeks (or somewhere in the region of 9 games). Monty Williams has promised lineup experiments in that time, but I'd anticipate Marco Belinelli and Al-Farouq Aminu continuing to get at least the next couple starts.
Trey Johnson - who has seen increased minutes of late - figures to be a candidate to get a start at some point, as does Xavier Henry when he's healthy.
Meanwhile, Jason Smith has not traveled with the team tonight, on account of a death in the family. Our best wishes to him.
On the Mavericks
Dallas is bad right now.
Dallas pays more in team salary than all but three teams in the NBA.
None of those teams (Boston, Los Angeles, Miami) will be this bad. And neither will Dallas.
Other Notes
No.

Oh, Gosh
I’m much less optimistic tonight than I was last night. Especially with the way Dallas has been playing, I almost feel like the sacrificial lamb going into this evening. Dallas, in general, has been a huge disappointment but that should have been expected. Odom, while a great versatile player, has never performed without the guidance of a hall of fame type coach. Carlisle is terrific but he can’t communicate with Odom. Vince Carter has never lived up to his potential anywhere, no reason he should now (and it’s arguable how much potential he has left). They let Chandler walk to build for next off season and guys like Kidd and Terry are playing like they already won their ring and that’s that. All that said, Dirk’s still a top five player in the game and Dallas is still immensely better than New Orleans. I’ll be optimistic tonight and I’m a masochist so I’ll watch all of it, but it may be tough.
Go Hornets!

I think the Hornets have a chance to win tonight
But Kaman and Okafor will have to be absolutely solid

Odom
I don’t know where you get that about Odom. He’s played badly so far, but it’s just 6 games into the season and he’s got a shortened season and being traded to deal with. Why do you say that Carlisle can’t communicate with him?
Odom
Played like that with the Clippers too. You can obviously tell when he doesn’t care and he doesn’t care this season.

his stats were good as a Clipper
Clippers were a disfunctional organization and he played fine. This season, he started slow, but I bet he’ll be a valuable player for the Mavs this season. Don’t think you can say he doesn’t care. In any case, he’s not the only player who’s started slow. Bad early season play seems to be a trademark of this season.
I'd Almost Guarantee
He doesn’t finish the year in Dallas.

Vince Carter
Agree about Carter. He’s been a fixture on my “Will Never Win My Championship” list, which doesn’t bode well for the Mavs’ repeat hopes this year.
Other players on the list: LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony.
I took a drink when Al-Farouq shot that 3
I almost spit it out when he made it.

Not Sure Why They Let Him Take Those
Is he hitting them in practice at a decent clip? Last season he hit around 31%, which doesn’t help his team that much, but they still had him bombing away like as if he was a 3-point specialist out there. At least the one he made so fart was open….
not sure
what all of that means … don’t think it’s called for though …

it is basketball related if it comes up on the tube when I'm watching basketball
You’re absolutely right, I have no idea what Chloe has to do with basketball, but she keeps making basketball headlines and keeps showing up when I’m watching basketball. That’s all part of her “marketing PR”. But that also makes her fair game for comments.
and lol, there it goes again
I click to read the recap of the Hornets game and guess who’s in photo for the game recape— Chloe Kardashian!
And she relevant in any way, to the recap of the game with the Mavs? Is Odom the only player who is married on these two teams?
Complete nonsense.
I just hope our 4th quarter D will hold up this time.
All of our losses so far has been because of 4th quarter D, or lack of it.

Has gone from toughest division to one large fluffy pillow
Reppin' the Lafayette Hornets fans.
This is a frustrating game

Okafor
7pts and 4 rebs so far. Absolutely unnacceptable. It’s not like he’s playing D.Howard

yep, looks like Monty went to bat for Aminu who's had a solid game
Though of course after losing 6 straight, it could also be Monty just feeling the heat a bit…
Calls have been pretty suspect
Monty has had enough

Lol
Rough night for New Orleans – all the different commentators keep on saying the same thing every game.
The Saints win kinda soften the blow in this game....
Squeaky looked good… Don’t know when this bleeding will stop but Aminu sad to say is a slim bandaid on an open gash. His game is crazy cuz he tries and messes up alot then sometimes he dosen’t try. Kaman is a catch and shoot guy. I cringe when he puts the ball on the floor because more than a few times, he’s called for traveling or loses the ball. Based on the lost identity of this team, I kinda miss Willie Green. Not that his talents gave the team an identity, he’s a vet G thats was used to the system and didn’t mind driving to the basket. Not like his bricks were worse than what’s being thrown up now. Our record is KINDA understandable when you see who’s NOT playing and we NEVER had Jack, Gordon, Ariza, Okafor & Kaman on the floor together. It just hurts when you lose 2 allstars and fall immediately like Cleveland but with injuries, are worse than Cleveland. I feel when our starters come back in a couple of weeks, and a week or two playing together, we’ll be much better but prob too late to make a playoff run.
Playoffs?

Tough Game
About what you’d expect unfortunately from the squad coming in. Vince Carter (I still remember their game against the Magic when that fool had 50 points) seems to always take it to New Orleans but that’s not the reason they lost the game either. The Hornets aren’t a great team to begin with, and when you add the depletion to the roster, it gets even worse. The team played hard tonight but the depth differential showed as the game went on. The officials were bad but were no reason that the team lost the game. Three technicals in one game is unacceptable from the team. Sunday may be just as tough.
Go Hornets!
