Without Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon, the Hornets did about as well as you might expect against one of the Western Conference's top teams -- very, very poorly. Dave will have the full recap; in the meanwhile, some bullets from me:
- Greivis Vasquez really struggled against Ty Lawson. He made multiple mistakes in the halfcourt and on fastbreaks. At this point, I think we can confidently say that while Vasquez turned himself into a very capable backup point guard a year ago, he's just not meant to be a full time starter.
- Ryan Anderson took just 13 shots. As (basically) always, it should, and based on the defense Denver was playing, and could have been a lot more.
- Austin Rivers managed to pick up 6 rebounds and 6 assists, but his shooting line (2 for 10) was once again dismal. Nonetheless, he needs to be starting over Roger Mason, who was terrible tonight and obviously doesn't need the minutes for development.
- Sean Kelley alluded to the fact that there may be some changes ahead of tomorrow's game in Los Angeles. Whatever the roster combinations end up being though, the Hornets simply don't have enough healthy talent right now to be competitive with good teams.
