Understandably fans tend to look at a team's needs and focus on them. If you prescribe to this notion you're probably upset the Charlotte Bobcats selected Jeffrey Taylor with the 31st overall pick, their second small forward of the draft. However, this falls into the mantra we've heard Rich Cho preach for weeks-- "draft for talent, trade for need".
Taylor is a player who in many ways was seen as similar to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, but where MKG has a more polished overall game, and is more of a leader, Taylor is a better perimeter shooter; but make no mistake, he's not going to be lighting the world on fire with his shooting.
Almost a consensus 'best player available' pick, Taylor will add to a bench in need of talent, with a player Rick Bonnell had as the 19th most talented player in the draft. Head Coach Mike Dunlap wanted high energy players, and three point shooting. With this tumultuous week coming to a close this Charlotte Bobcats team has added two high energy guys tonight, and Ben Gordon via trade.
Barring a late move it looks like the draft for the Bobcats is over, and the long wait until the regular season begins.
