Yahoo's Marc Spears wrote a column yesterday describing Eric Gordon's wishes to mend fences with Hornets fans after the Phoenix fiasco he brainstormed, authored, self-published, and held exploratory talks about making a movie out of. (Hat tip to Bishiop Black for having the link first here in the FanShots).

A couple quotes from Mr. Gordon:

"I wish I could've done a little better with the fan perception," Gordon told Yahoo! Sports. "But also at the same time they don't know the business perspective of how negotiations are handled. They don’t know how being a restricted free agent can be mind-boggling for a player. "I’m here with an open mind and here to help the young guys. They will see the next four years will be better than the last four years of my career, so it should be nothing but good things."

and then the money quote on the contract:

The Suns signed Gordon to a four-year, $58 million offer sheet that includes the opportunity for him to opt out of the contract after the third season.

Spears confirmed later on Twitter that the contract Gordon now has with the Hornets indeed includes the same provision. This means Gordon could become an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2014-2015, a full year before they'd need to reach an extension agreement with Anthony Davis.
