Sticking with the Hornets motto: Out with the old and in with the new!
The Bulls will add another shooting guard as well, with the imminent signing of Marco Belinelli for the biannual exception of $1.9 million. Belinelli flew to Chicago on Monday for a physical, sources said, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Belinelli's deal will be two years for $3.8 million, with the second year a team option.
I would love to be able to write about how dearly he'll be missed, but his tenure wasn't all that bad. Despite many a woeful shooting night, Beli could at least be counted on suiting up and giving his all. He was one of Monty William's favorites on the team as evidenced by the amount of run he received even when more talented players were on the team (Thornton). Now of primary importance will be whose giant head will we see the most run around the arena by the staff.
In other news, Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted:
Hornets have worked hard on executing a sign-and-trade for Suns RFA center Robin Lopez, but deal hasn't come together, sources tell Y!
As we have all surmised, the Hornet roster is still missing that prototypical center. Apparently, Dell Demps hasn't been sitting on his hands and is after Robin Lopez. Looks like he wants to stick it to the Suns for wooing Eric Gordon a little too fervently. Considering the available choices, Lopez is a decent target. He is only 24 years old and has had his moments in the NBA posting some very acceptable numbers. Personally, I believe he would have better success in our system. The Suns asked a lot out of their 5's - to constantly run the floor hard, set picks for Nash and Co. and always remain offensively ready for a variety of scoring passes. As a Hornet, Robin would be better able to play to his strengths roaming the paint much like Okafor the last several seasons. Git r done, front office.
