Selected highlights and morning-after analysis from Bobcats vs Warriors

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

I just got done watching my recording of last night's Bobcats-Warriors game and I couldn't help but add some quick #HOTSPORTSTAKES with some visuals I found interesting from the game.

First up are some plays by Gerald Henderson, who had a pretty great night on both ends of the floor. The first is an amazing chasedown block on Harrison Barnes and the second is wild hook shot that banks in.

Pretty nifty.

It was also pretty cool to see Josh McRoberts motorin' through the Warriors' defense.

I'd also like to praise this play from the Warriors, which made me stop in my tracks and watch about a thousand times.

This is some supreme off-ball maneuvering from Stephen Curry, who drags Kemba Walker over an Andrew Bogut and then slides under Al Jefferson. Kemba sees David Lee setting a screen on the other side of the court and surmises that Curry is running baseline to find an open corner three. He prepares for the screen just as Curry stops and reroutes back to the opposite corner. Klay Thompson closes in with a screen in the middle of the paint and Bogut sets another screen on Jefferson. Curry gets the pass and nails the open three. Just brilliant.

Another thing I'd like to note is the Warriors' use of multiple defenders on Kemba Walker in the fourth quarter. They went through Curry, Barnes and even a short stint with Thompson guarding Walker. None really worked. Curry couldn't stay in front of Walker and didn't have the length to bother him. Thompson wasn't quick enough nor physical enough to fight through screens. Trying to put Barnes on Walker was an intriguing idea, but he also got caught up in the screens. His length and defensive fundamentals (solid footwork) are good tools but Walker's quickness dwarfed those advantages. Golden State's pick-and-roll defense with David Lee is a weak spot, and one Walker attacked late. By forcing Barnes to choose between going under a screen and giving Walker an open jump shot or going over and giving Walker a mismatch on Lee, the Bobcats found the offense to close out the Warriors. Kemba had nine points within four minutes of returning to the floor in the fourth quarter and a total of 15 points in the 6 minutes and 49 seconds he played to finish the game, adding on the six free throws he made as Golden State was forced to foul.
