Bobcats trying harder to trade Ben Gordon after incident with coach Mike Dunlap

Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Charlotte is "more determined" to trade Ben Gordon after a dispute between the guard and head coach Mike Dunlap.

It seems the Bobcats will be pressing harder to move Ben Gordon before the trade deadline, following news of an incident between him and Mike Dunlap, Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski said.

His source told him that during the shootaround before the Bobcats-Celtics game, Gordon refused to stop bouncing the basketball as Dunlap spoke to the team even after Dunlap requested he stop. Instead, he began to "bait Dunlap," saying he needed to "humble himself." Then he refused to give the ball to Dunlap and instead threw it at the ball rack.

Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins was nearby and had to intervene during the situation, which a source described as "beyond disrespectful."

And even yet, the team didn't suspend Gordon for the behavior. But why?

The front office didn't suspend Gordon, a decision sources said was based in part on the belief the incident would diminish his trade value so close to the league's deadline next Thursday.

Oh. Well, so much for that.

Frustrations and tension continues to rise as the Bobcats struggle through this season. My, how long ago that 7-5 record seems now.

I don't know why Gordon acted out so immaturely, but his minutes are at a career low and he is one of the few veterans on this team with any talented. Perhaps he feels affronted by Dunlap's desire to play a wide rotation of players. He may feel he can be that great scorer the team needs and the team isn't trusting him. This is just speculation on my part, but with this news, there is clearly a rift between Gordon and Dunlap right now.

Regardless, the Bobcats know Ben Gordon is not the future of this team. They've made that reported offer to trade him for Kris Humphries, but even that's looking doubtful now.

Well this is certainly heating up the trade deadline season in Charlotte in a hurry.
