We're a day away from Deadline Day, and the Hornets, who were previously reported to be "open" to various Eric Gordon trades, are looking even more active with him according to some sources.
The Times-Pic reports that New Orleans would love to get back Golden State's Klay Thompson in a trade, but that's not happening. Thompson's 22, already one of the league's elite shooters, and perhaps on the verge of growing into something a lot more. He's a clearly inferior player to Eric Gordon -- and it's easy to forget this given how rumors have swirled; Gordon's still just 24, a borderline All-Star scorer and elite perimeter defender when healthy. Unfortunately, it's unclear at this point whether that "when healthy" tag essentially torpedoes his potential going forward.
As I wrote last week, I just don't see a good move for Gordon coming available in the next two days. By all reports, teams seem incredibly wary of his health -- as they should be -- and are unwilling to offer significant pieces back.
