Nets decide Ben Gordon is not for them

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports and Howard Beck of the New York Times, the Brooklyn Nets are no longer interested in Ben Gordon.

This is a big blow to the Bobcats who have been attempting to trade Ben Gordon for a while now. Moving Gordon is not due to questioning his scoring ability; he's never had an issue with that (never had a True Shooting% below 50 in his career). Rather, it is instead an issue of his character. He is also difficult to move because of his $12.8 million per year contract.

Rumors popped up weeks ago when reports initially surfaced from ESPN's Chris Broussard and the New York Times' Howard Beck, with the Bobcats reportedly offering the straight up swap of Gordon for Kris Humphries, whose contract is nearly identical. This could have been seen as equal parts moving Gordon because of character issues within the locker room and also acquiring a much needed presence in the post and on the glass. But the Nets came to their senses and didn't want to chance a movable asset for a player that would be such a liability on defense.

By all indications, the Bobcats are going to continue trying to move Gordon, but have also delved into exploring the possible returns of other players, notably Gerald Henderson, before the trade deadline arrives tomorrow at 3 p.m. EST.
