Pre-game notes:
- As I'm sure most of you are aware, the Hornets didn't make any deals before the trade deadline yesterday. In fact, the majority of teams failed to make a move. However, plenty of speculation still exists the Hornets may move Eric Gordon in the summer and that's a shame. For a sensitive and sometimes misunderstood guy like Eric, it's unlikely the fan base will ever make him feel completely welcome so don't be surprised his heart does end up leading him elsewhere. Monty Williams quote today is also perhaps quite telling:
Monty on no deadline moves: "It’s certainly not a statement that we’re going to be the same team come next year. We certainly won’t be that"
- Has anyone looked at Austin River's production for the month of February? He's still having issues from the foul line, but he's much improved at putting the ball through the hoop everywhere else (46.2 FG%, 60 3FG%). Moreover, he is currently sporting a 47.3 FG% at the rim for the year. Remember, Russell Westbrook had only a 47.0 FG% in his rookie season.
- Here's something you probably didn't know: in the last 13 visits to New Orleans, the Mavericks have gone home a loser 12 times. That's as probably a good of a jinx as one can put on a struggling team, right?
