Michael Kidd-Gilchrist diagnosed with concussion

The rookie did not suffer any further neck or head injuries, tests showed.

Bobcats rookie forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has been diagnosed with a concussion and will spend the night in a Houston hospital, per Rick Bonnell. He added that X-ray and CT scans showed no additional damage. This looked like it could have been much, much worse but thankfully he didn't have further injuries.

MKG suffered the injury during a fast break against the Houston Rockets. As he defended a layup, teammate Jeffery Taylor accidentally hit him in the back of the head with his knee or hip. Kidd-Gilchrist was knocked unconscious immediately and lay motionless on the court for about five minutes before medical staff carried him off the court on a stretcher.

Now Kidd-Gilchrist must complete the NBA's concussion standard procedure before returning to the court. I have no idea how quickly that can be done, but if I had to wager, he could be back in time for Wednesday's game vs the Cavaliers or by Friday for the game against the Lakers, if not a more extended absence (which certainly is possible). Regardless, the timetable that is safest for his return is best, without a doubt.
