Charlotte Bobcats at Philadelphia 76ers game preview

A bunch of Philadelphia's best players are under the weather. What should the Bobcats look for from this 76ers team?

Game Overview:

Alas, twas a tough loss last night and now the Bobkitties have departed to Philadelphia for the tail end of a back-to-back.

Not all hope is lost, though! The Bobcats have an offensive rating this season better than only two teams. And yes, the 76ers are one of those two teams. The 76ers reworked their roster in the offseason to get Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson. But Andrew Bynum still has yet to play a game and Jason Richardson is now done for the season. Plus the guy head coach Doug Collins called their "most important player," Thaddeus Young, is out with a strained hamstring.

Ah, injury-depleted rosters: the key to most Bobcats wins.

Basically, the 76ers are very mediocre. They're not bad, but they're not very good either. Their defense is one of their decent points, but it's not elite. Their offense comes off as dreadful because they just don't have the scoring threats. They're the worst team at getting to the free-throw line with 0.141 FT/FGA and don't shoot all that efficiently otherwise. They lead the league in shots from 16-23 feet, aka the most inefficient range in basketball - and of all the teams in the league, they're one of the worst shooters in that zone. Their defense is solid but not quite exemplary, and it tends to foul a bit.

Can Charlotte take advantage of Philadelphia's shorthanded roster? It's possible. But I've seen them play well below their competition perhaps more often than I've seen them play up to it.
