(Another hat that did not fit)
Before the draft my priority for the pick was Nerlens, Len, Mclemore. And to anyone who wanted Oladipo, Bill Simmons said it best, "Are the Bobcats going to score 70 points a game next season?". Last night the kitties made a safe pick, yes it was a reach, but Cho made the pick that he wanted. Now Thomas Robinson or Derrick Williams would not make sense on the roster. Coming onto the roster Zeller is already the most skilled big man on the team. Even with a developing jumper I would rather see Zeller out there shooting mid range jumpers than Tyrus or McRoberts. Zeller will hopefully replace McRoberts on the roster, because Zeller can do everything he can without looking like he just got up off of his couch.
But thats a good thing because Zeller is the "Big Handsome". With Zeller the kitties have a guy that can work over the summer with Coach Clifford and Ewing and play in the summer league. Hopefully this means that the Bobcats will continue to run the floor, Kemba MKG and Zeller should team up for a lot of fast breaks. If anyone is shaky on the pick, or doesn't know a lot about Zeller's playstyle definitely watch his draft express video.
This pick may also be some foreshadowing of what is to come for the Bobcats free agency. Not taking Noel or Len may be a sign that the Bobcats are going to make a push for Bynum or Jefferson. In my opinion Bynum is as much of a risk as Noel is (as long as the price is right). Regardless of what position Zeller plays, he is a guy that will accept a role coming off the bench if he has to. This draft also ensures that the Bobcats will try to resign Gerald Henderson.
