Who said changing the name wouldn't increase profit?

Twenty-four hours after Michael Jordandisclosed the Charlotte NBA franchise’s application to change its name to Hornets, the team sold $1 million worth of tickets.

And front-office executives said this week interest continues to run high among existing and prospective corporate sponsors eager to trade on the name of the city’s first major-league franchise.

That didn't take long. Official Hornet merchandise isn't for sale yet, and the league hasn't even approved the name change, and sales are already up. Wait until everything really kicks into gear.
