Bobcats trade rumors update: Turner talks at a standstill but Cats targeting Afflalo, Morrow

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The Bobcats showed some more interest in Turner, but never got far. Reports also say the team is interested in Arron Afflalo and Anthony Morrow.

According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the Bobcats and 76ers had discussions about Evan Tuner, though these talks didn't go very far.

Evan Turner has increased his scoring this season without a drop in his usual efficiency numbers. However, he was never very efficient to begin with. He is averaging 17.4 points a game with a True Shooting percentage of 50%, a little below league average.

The Bobcats appear to be keying on upgrading their backcourt during the trade deadline by going after Sixers guard Evan Turner. However the Sixers have shown for awhile now that they want a first round pick for Turner. The Bobcats have shown no inclination they want to trade any of their first round picks, at least for such a return.

We might see a revival in this trade when the deadline gets closer. Depending how much the Sixers really want to trade Turner, or how much the Bobcats want to get him, someone could always up the deal. This could also be a situation where the two teams were just testing the waters and checking values on players. While the trade isn't all the way dead, it's on life support.

In other news, Sean Deveney of Sporting News reports that the Bobcats have interest in the Orlando Magic's Arron Afflalo and New Orleans Pelicans guard Anthony Morrow.

On the one hand, duh the Bobcat are interested in Afflalo. He's a good shooter who doesn't need to handle the ball too much and is on a decent contract. He fits in well. On the other hand, it seems unlikely that the Magic will deal him before the deadline, instead opting to retain him for the summer and possibly maximize his value in hopes of getting a draft pick, as Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

As for Morrow, a Charlotte native, the Bobcats would of course love to get their mitts on a player who can consistently make over 40 percent of his three-pointers. He's pretty much just a sharpshooter, but dang, the fact that his shooting heavily overshadows the rest of his game should say more about his shooting than the rest of his talents. Whether the Bobcats want to spend a draft pick on Morrow, who has a player option this summer, is something worth debate in itself.
