The entire border of the court is now Creole blue with "New Orleans Hornets" under both baskets in Gold. The font of "New Orleans Hornets" matches the same font used on the new uniforms.

The NOLA Horn logo is on the outside of the lane on both ends of the court.

Looks like the General is ready to invade Europe. Yahoo! Sports is reporting that it won't be the Spurs or Suns who acquire the services of Jannero next year, but rather, CSKA Moscow. The deal is reported worth 4 million and is just 1 year long (wasn't he long for job stability?). Based on my questionable math skills, he will make more money post-taxes this year than James Posey. ~atthehive]

NOLA is reporting that Ryan Bowen has signed another one year deal with the Hornets. Contract details haven't been given out yet, but I'm assuming it's the minimum contract. I like the move- it gives us some depth, Bowen already knows the system, and we retain an All-Hustle first teamer. Hat tip to Hornets Hype for seeing it first.

Lots of CP13 stuff flying around due to the big minutes they've played in China. A quote from Jerry Colangelo: "Chris Paul today can handle anything given him. [Coming off the bench] is just the position he happens to be in because Jason is gonna start for us. But the way it appears we're gonna play is that all of these point guards are gonna be given a lot of minutes."

NBA.com- CP13 and Deron at the Olympics

John Schuhmann has a fantastic article about Chris Paul and Deron Williams' roles with Team USA.

A taste: "Paul is obviously two years older than he was at the World Championships in Japan, but there's more to his progression as a player than that. Two years ago, he had just won the Rookie of the Year award, but fell short of the playoffs. This time around, he just finished second for MVP, leading his team to the second best record in the Western Conference and to the seventh game of the Conference Semifinals.

He's more experienced. He's more mature. He's bigger. He's stronger. And in a game where confidence can mean everything, Paul's confidence "has skyrocketed," as Colangelo puts it.

Colangelo goes even further. "Comparing Chris Paul two years ago and now is apples and oranges," he said Sunday."

Great article, give it a read.

Chris Sheridan implies that it may be a sign of things to come- "Little did [Kidd] know it at the time, but it may have been his first step toward becoming the utility wedge instead of the driver in Coach K's bag of tricks." Kidd's been getting very few minutes in second halves anyway, so I'm not reading into it too much. And DWill outclassed Paul against Russia, so nothing resembling a lineup change is imminent.

Hornets Schedule Leaks!

NewOrleans.com Sports has learned that the New Orleans Hornets will appear on national television on Christmas Day, 2008 likely to be shown on TNT, possibly as a night game.. The Hornets will play at Orlando against the Magic in a battle of two of the league's brightest emerging stars, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard.

This marks the first time in franchise history, dating back to Charlotte (1988), that the Hornets will appear on a nationally televised game on Christmas Day and it brings more credence and credibility to the team and city as a serious contender for a championship.

The NBA marketing strategy with regard to national telecasts under Commissioner David Stern has always been about the star power of its best players, featuring the likes of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O' Neal, Steve Nash, and LeBron James.

There is little doubt that Chris Paul's ascendance to the elite level in the league and his exciting style of play is the primary contributing factor in landing the game for the Hornets. Expect an official announcement soon.

Notes on the Hornets' 2008-09 regular season schedule to be released next week:

Home Opener is November 1st against Cleveland.

Hornets open on road at Golden State and then at Phoenix.

Nov. 12th at home vs Lakers

Dec. 23rd at home vs Lakers

Feb. 11th at home vs Boston

Dec. 26th at home vs Houston

Regular season finale will be a Sunday afternoon game against Dallas.

Jim Eichenhofer breaks down the 5 players we're working out today: Jeremy Pargo, Sonny Weems, Shan Foster, Trent Plaisted, and Othello Hunter. Looks like we're starting with 2nd round guys and seeing if they have 1st round potential.

"The Lakers invited Scott to participate in pre-game ceremonies during their upcoming NBA Finals series against the Boston Celtics, part of an effort to celebrate the history of the Celtics-Lakers old rivalry, of which Scott was a part in the 1980s... 'I said, 'No I can't. I'm working,'" Scott said. "That's a conflict of interest to ask me to come back and give out the game ball or something like that, and I'm saying, 'That doesn't sound right.' I love the fact that they (offered) ... but I can't do that right now.' "

So refreshing to see after Jerry West shamelessly celebrating the Lakers' WC title...

ESPN - In signing deal, Scott aims to build on Hornets' landmark season - NBA
