At The Hive Contest: Win Will's Ticket(s)!
I am leaving to go on a 5 day cruise to Mexico on Saturday, which is great. The Hornets play at home during that time, which is not great. So in order to make myself feel better about missing a game, I will be giving away my ticket, as well as the ticket next to me (graciously donated by snavetrebor) for the game THIS Sunday (4/3) at 6pm CST against the Indiana Pacers. The tickets are in the Lower Bowl in the corner closest to the Hornets' bench. Interested? Click after the jump to see how you can win.

Friday's contest (for the Celtics game) will be the last of the season, and won't be located at the above link (I've autoscheduled a new one to post before the Boston game.
Jersey Contest Update, Day 5
Answers from the Detroit Game:
First Scorer: David West (5 points)
Backup to use 2nd most possessions: Willie Green (5 points)
Guess the Attendance: 11,000 (5 points)
How Many Player Technicals: 0 (5 points)
Will Gary Chouest be at the game: No (2 points)
Thanks to the #twittersection for the answer to that last question.
All in all, this was one of the easier contest days, as picking any reasonable attendance or technical foul number earned a decent chunk of points. I switched up the backups question to account for the fact that everyone (smartly) answered Willie Green for most possessions used every time. Right on cue, Willie Green came in second last night to Jarrett Jack.
73% of players selected West to be the first scorer, 33% selected Green to use the second most possessions, three people guessed that there would be zero technicals, just two people guessed the attendance (sXe hXc AMF and mattmc89), and 56% of players correctly speculated that Gary Chouest would not be at the game.

Jersey Contest Update
Two games are in the contest books.
As I mentioned earlier, Week 1 is a test run, a time for us to iron out the kinks. And I believe the first kink has been found- guessing the point scores probably earns you too many points. Right now, the three "questions" can earn you a maximum of 5, 5, and 2 points, while guessing the scores earn you a maximum 20 points. So I'll even that out a little by making the maximum for guessed scores 10 points (5 for our score, 5 for the opponents').
This doesn't affect the overall leaderboard too much, but it makes the field a little more competitive in terms of overall point spread.
Here's the updated leaderboard through 2 games.
For the Knicks game, Emeka Okafor scored the first points (correctly guessed by one person), Wilson Chandler attempted more threes than Ariza (correctly guessed by 67% of contestants), and Jarrett Jack led the bench in possessions used (correctly guessed by nobody).
Click here to enter Sunday's contest... which has some more entertaining questions. The point values for Sunday are 5, 5, 5, 5, 2, with a sliding scale (0-5 and 1-5 possible) for the first and second questions. Happy guessing!
At the Hive December Jersey Contest
I know, know. We've tried and failed to have a lot of different contests on here over the years. And while some came off, others have crashed and burned for a variety of reasons.
But this time it's definitely for real!
At the end of December, we'll be giving away a Hornets jersey. However, since the system that automates the votes is brand new, Week 1 (December 1st to December 7th) will be a test run to see how the system works. We'll see if we get enough people voting to make this a legitimate contest, and we'll see if any bugs, etc. come up. If all goes well this week, then we'll include contest results from Week 1.
So to reiterate, this is a test week, but it will count if everything goes smoothly. If that makes sense.
My goals for this jersey contest are primarily:
- to build up the community that's gradually being established
- to thank you guys for reading and commenting
- to have fun
