You can't coach effort, Brown says. So now what?
Charlotte Bobcats coach Brown expressed shock Thursday at how poor his team's effort has been lately.

The snarky reaction is to assume that LB's thinking he put together a good team, so effort must be the reason they're sucking. I'm hoping he doesn't really think that, but instead realizes that the team isn't that good and they're going through a tough slump and maybe that's getting some guys down. Not hustling can be a result of crappy play, not just a cause.

LeBron James planning to give up No. 23 out of respect for Michael Jordan
Out of respect to Michael Jordan, who sat courtside and watched James score 34 points, James said he is planning on switching his number after this season from No. 23 to No. 6. It just sort of came out, but it was obvious he's been thinking about it for a while.

Jordan appears to have been in Miami because he has a home there, he was on hand to announce Jordan Brand's new relationship with Dwyane Wade, and why wouldn't you go see Wade-James if you had the chance? However, when he does stuff like this, it just makes people question whether he has more loyalty to Nike or the Bobcats. (If there really is a question.) As for LeBron James's announcement that he's changing his number: puh-leez. Go ahead and change your number if you want a new start and a flood of new jersey sales, but there's a tradition of tribute through wearing the number. The league should only retire a number for reasons that go beyond athletic greatness, like MLB and Jackie Robinson.
