It's the offseason, and our rosterbation threads are in full swing, even as the most desirable free agents sign with team after team that ain't the Charlotte Bobcats.
I want to thank all of you for coming by and sticking around this past season, and I hope you'll continue to contribute to productive discussions here all summer and into next season. I'm just one voice, and not everyone agrees with what I choose to say. The success of Rufus on Fire as a gathering place for intelligent Charlotte Bobcats fans depends on you maintaining high standards of discourse, and I'm very happy with the way things have gone since the site moved to SB Nation.
All that said, this week, I'm taking my first extended break from posting, because I'll be completely off the grid for a vacation with the family. Don't worry, though, because you'll have plenty of content to read all week. Starting Monday, you'll get five stories from the Rufus on Fire Basketball Fiction Contest. They are:
"The Darkness and Malcone" -- by Kevin Miller
"Goat" -- by Erik Germani
"The Players" -- by Dan Sweet
"Second Round" -- by Dustin Stevenson"Shooting Threes and Eating Candy" -- by Victor McConnell (Grand Prize Winner)
Victor McConnell's story will run on Friday, but otherwise, the stories were not placed in any specific order.
Also in the meantime, please help each other stay abreast of news with FanPosts and FanShots. Even when I'm around, they're great tools for spurring discussion.
Finally, please abide by the site's basic rules of conduct, as listed in the USS Mariner Comment Guidelines: Don't make me come back to a list of people I have to ban. (/Dad's "be nice to the babysitter" speech.)
