NBA Lockout Playlist - NBA Fan Voice

Today on SB Nation, it's NBA Fan Voice Day. As the premier sports fan site network, SB Nation lives through the voice of fans. So while the lockout seems to disregard fans completely, we've felt that fans voices need to be heard.

If you have an opinion, write your take in a FanPost and I will publish some today to the front page. This can be what you think about the CBA talks, the owners, the players, what you would do, basically whatever it is you want to talk about.

I, for one, am jaded by the whole situation - the negotiations that go nowhere, the lockout, the spin that each side puts on talks - everything. The system needs to be fixed to help encourage sustainability for franchises and there has been plenty of time to do this. Are they negotiating in good faith? Doubtful. I'm sick of it all.

I'm not an economist, so I can't really add much to the discussion. But I know NBA basketball and I miss it dearly.

So on this NBA Voice Day, I've decided to make an NBA Lockout Playlist.

Hit the jump for our five songs each that we think accompanies the lockout well.

Ben's Playlist:

Stubborn Kinda Fellow - Marvin Gaye

I'm no fool. I will likely love NBA basketball forever. The lockout will end eventually and I will be back, buying League Pass Broadband, tickets and maybe some merchandise. I'm a stubborn fool with my love.

Warning Call - DJ Shadow

The NBA owners should play this song on repeat during negotiations and give each player a copy of the lyrics.

Dollaz & Sense (feat. Pharoahe Monch & RZA) - Blakroc

"If it don't make dollaz, then it don't make sense." The NBA's system needs to be tweaked to ensure that teams like the Bobcats have a chance for long-term profitability.

Keeping It Moving - A Tribe Called Quest

Replace East with the NBA and the West with the NBPA. MINDSPLOSION. Well, maybe not so much. Still, it's not a bad forced metaphor if you smell what I'm stepping in.

Time 4 Sum Aksion - Redman

Do something. Get. It. Done.

Connor's Playlist:

All Falls Down - Kanye West

Real Hero - College

My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion

The Day Is Coming - My Morning Jacket

Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap

David's Playlist:

They Reminisce Over You - Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth

Yeah, it's a little sappy to say I reminisce over a simpler time when we just started seasons on time and the league was full of promise. So what.

Losing My Religion - R.E.M

Is basketball a religion? For some, perhaps. But this is a break up song. It played in Dylan's Porsche the night Brenda told him they shouldn't see each other anymore. He didn't want to hear that. And just kept saying "" over and over again. That's how I felt about this whole lockout. No, indeed.

Power - Kanye West

As much as I'd like to blame one person for the current situation I can't. No one man should have all that power, right? And right now it is going to take the effort of many to get us our season back. But David Stern did threaten to cancel Christmas, and that's way too much power.

99 Problems - Jay-Z

Feels like at least 99, doesn't it? No grand explanation here, it's pretty self explanatory. (And obvious, I know.) The last song to make this inspiring rotation is tough. I have to say, it took a lot to not include Boyz II Men right here to just wallow in pity. But...the only thing keeping me positive is that the league is as solid as it's been in a long time, at least it will be once we get to the other side of this dispute. And hopefully that's sooner rather than later. Because we...

Gotta Have It - Jay-Z and Kanye West
