The NBA announced that Bobcats guard Kemba Walker and forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist have been selected to the pool of players for the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge during the All-Star weekend.

Walker was also selected last year, even despite an underwhelming statistical rookie season. He's improved magnificently since last year, shooting better from just about everywhere on the court. He's also been more active in forcing turnovers and a slightly better passer, not to mention a fantastic ball-handler.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has had a more solid rookie season than Walker, but not without his own inconsistencies. MKG is already one of the best defenders in the league but can sometimes get into foul trouble and his offense is limited. Still, his skill set is high and there's still room for him to improve and become more consistent. While his selection to the game is unsurprising. MKG has been one of the more encouraging rookies and a talented wing.

The format is the same as last year, with TNT analysts/talking heads Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal drafting teams from the pool of rookie and second-year players. Going back and forth a la playground pick-up game team selections, Barkley and O'Neal will form their teams.

The rest of the players are as follows: Harrison Barnes, Bradley Beal, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried, Kyrie Irving, Brandon Knight, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Chandler Parsons, Alexey Shved, Klay Thompson, Tristan Thompson, Nikola Vucevic, Dion Waiters and Tyler Zeller.

It will definitely be interesting to see the Bobcats' two most promising young players on teams with more talent around them.
