Charlotte Bobcats at Toronto Raptors game preview

Gametime: 7:00 p.m. EST

The Bobcats face the other participant of the most recent Rudy Gay trade the night after they took on his new team, the Sacramento Kings and if anything, the move signified Masai Ujiri's continued intention on ridding the team of former GM Bryan Colangelo's hefty contracts even at the cost of lesser talent.

In the long term, this should pay off. Rudy Gay wasn't about to lead that Raptors team to the playoffs, or at least very far in the postseason. With the upcoming draft and necessary time to continue developing the talented big man Jonas Valanciunas, I think it was a terrific move.

I'm not even sure what to make of the Raptors now after this trade as far as a current way to evaluate them on a scouting level. I've yet to seen them play so I'm not sure what to expect. I know DeMar DeRozan has been a terrific scorer and Amir Johnson is pretty nice piece Toronto wants to hold on to for his defense, rebounding a controlled offensive output, but other than that, I don't really know. I expect Greivis Vasquez to be similar to how Calderon was with his dribbling and passing. The team's shooting efficiency should rise since Rudy Gay's gone, too.

But really, I'm not sure. The defense should focus on DeRozan, which is a good matchup for Gerald Henderson, but keeping an eye on the frontcourt will be important too. Valanciunas is still pretty green in the gills so Jefferson should be able to get him to bite on some fake and Johnson will be a tough defensive matchup with McRoberts.
