According to USA Today the deal is reportedly a two-year deal for $6 million with a third-year team option.
Steve Clifford is an experienced assistant with a lot of credentials. He started off as a scout for the Knicks and moved up to an assistant position under Don Nelson. He then became an assistant for Jeff Van Gundy in Houston and also an assistant for Stan Van Gundy in Orlando.
If this is true I happen to love this hire. Jeff Van Gundy had a lot of winning teams in his time in New York and Houston and Stan Van Gundy was an NBA Finals coach with the Magic. Any coach that's coming from their system is likely to have taken on their ideas and coaching styles. The Bobcats defense was in shambles last season and the Van Gundy's are praised for turning teams into defensive monsters so bringing in a coach that worked under them is a great move.
